I think it was found to be fragile in most case, though of the PERS figures I had, Batman's moved the easiest and didn't feel like they'd break, Joker and Keaton Batman felt like I could break the switch easily, and the way PERS used to be added in, if the switch broke you were stuck.
Figures like Jack Sparrow and Hulk use single eye movement and the sockets hold the eyes differently. Maul may be like Jack, similar access to Batman but independent eyes, not PERS.

The complexity and size of the speeder will give us two releases, just as many of the deluxe figures have been getting these days. They're not going to do three editions, middle tier variants, or anything of the like.

Really hope it is DX16 now. I love those boxes and extra stuff inside. And whats the best prices are totaly reasonable so far. Just look dx15 so much detail for really good price. Hope it will cost with bike 299,99. It is not impossible. I didnt bought anything from PT so far but if its dx16 i will buy day1. Looks amazing. And yes new Leia is still my no.1 figure from this sdcc.

Great comparison there. I agree that the HT sculpt captures a different expression, but just goes to show how strong the SSC Maul release is.
You could easily have both and put the SSC in the robe on the Sith Speeder and have the HT one out of the robe with the lightsaber and they'd fit in perfectly with one another.

Just from the sheer volume of pages -- even discounting Maulfan's posts -- Maul seems like the clear winner of the Con. Not surprising.

It's been one of the most vocally wanted HT figures around here since the HT started doing Star Wars, so it's no surprise really, it's also a character who fans have been passionate for years. Of what else new was at SDCC from HT at least, it seems like the most exciting item.

Idk man. But for one thing, this pic shows how bad the tattoos are on the SS.. didn't notice until now. It's actually pretty baffling how bad it is. Nose paint completely the wrong shape giving him a dog nose, chin tattoo way too short, all of the lines and the nose tats aren't thick enough.
The nose has always looked bad to me for some reason on the SS but now I know why lol

I think the reason the HT one looks less like actual Maul than the SSC, is the mouth/chin area... it's narrower than the actor and the SS version.
For the PERS, this is a stretch.... but could it be that the reason the tats are sculpted, is that a portion of the front of the face is removed to access the PERS? The Dark Knight method would be better, but I've seen HT do some odd things when it comes to things like battery compartments and light/sound switches...

I am curious to see what lens angles those comparison pictures are. The HT one could be a different angle than let’s say the movie reference photo which would certainly distort the shape of the head in the pic JC Hong posted. I think it’s difficult to go off one picture, I’m curious to see what people say about the Maul who have seen it in person at SDCC.

I was actually kinda glad I didn't care much for TLJ because I figured HT would go hard on that line and I wouldn't be tempted... Then they reveal all this PT stuff I never expected.

I guess I just figured the interest was low and that they would concentrate on OT and ST figures, then again it's not like I had ever taken a survey... There maybe the factor that I was hoping they wouldn't because I knew I wouldn't be able to resist most of them.
Also I figured SSC went so deep into the line because hot toys didn't intend to... How wrong I was.
