I really don't imagine we'll see mark 5 and 6 anytime soon, the iron man series has been a great addition to the hot toys line and has been very successful, and also considering that mech test tony and mark 3 battle damage have only recently shown up and the first film is a few years old, i'd imagine they'd stagger any further releases until the next film, or even the avengers in a few years time, so buy this guy and you'll have time to save for further iron man figures in my honest opinion, hot toys aren't going to milk the cow dry in one go if they know they can do it successfully over a period of time.

That's the impression I get too. Which is part of the reason I'll probably get the Mark IV. My guess is that we'll see the Mark VI further down the road, probably with a lot more features ala the BD Mark III.

Actually, after the Mark IV, War Machine, Whiplash and Black Widow, I'll probably be ready for a break!

Mark IV is looking top but they really need to make the neck part thicker. I've been looking at Mark III from Iron Man and hes awesome but the paint job needs to be a more richer, darker red. The Mark III Battle Damaged version has that richer and deeper colour but am looking for a clean version. IV looks badass cause of the new design from Iron Man 2 but the neck is so thin that its gonna have that Dark Knight effect where it looks like hes got a giraffe neck. Does anybody agree on the neck being too thin for Mark IV ?

I don't know if it's too thin as you can barely see it in any movie still. It is certainly too long though.

Where is this photo from, and are there more? Thanks.

Edit: Nevermind, I found them.

I wonder (and hope) if Hot Toys will release an IM fig on release day of movie. Maybe Mech Test or WM?

Heres what am talking about the neck:

Mark III neck:

Real suit neck:

On the real suit see how the neck is fat and meets near enough the edge of the helmet.

Also heres the Mark IV suit in real from Iron Man 2. Still the neck is fat like Mark III and meets the edge of the helmet in width:

Actually come to think of it the slim fit armor actually suit the centurion or briefcase suit in the film more than his Mark IV:

PS....sorry for all the large images !!!

The thickness of the neck will have probably been sacrificed for articulation purposes. Personally I never noticed it until you pointed it out being too thin. Only thought the mk III BD had a bit of a long neck. Anyway, the neck on the mkIV doesnt bother me, only bit that does is the chest, needing to be a bit beefier, but since Hot Toys have said that they made it more slim for articulation purposes I doubt will see it change and its not going to stop me from getting this or the mk VI. Since theyre both similar in design, I imagine the mk VI will have the same chest proportions.

Im just trying to hold off till I either see the movie (this Friday :banana) or see the mk VI announced to see what gizmos it comes with and which of the two I would prefer. I only need one representation of Iron Man.

Yeah i guess your right about them saying that they made it for better articulation. Am also going to see it this week friday :bounce !!! I will also decide based upon the film what version to wait for. Plus you never know how much screen time the VI gets as well. Then again if it looks good and similar to mark III (which i think it does) then its not a completely different suit that ppl are not gonna recognise it.

Hmmm, that is true! Already pre-ordered WM and IM IV, like them both plenty much and they (HT) really improves since MkIII. Don't mind the intervals really. But certainly hope they won't take too long for 5 and 6. There are other armoured baddies in IM2 so, we might see those out before 5 and 6?

Said goodbye to savings since getting into this hobby!:sick

I'm not sure that particular image is the best example but I agree the biggest issue with the figure is the length and thickness of the neck which I personally think is coloring a lot of opinion that the whole figure is too thin.

Now if making the neck thinner and shorter significantly decreases neck articulation I am not for that. Neck movement for me is the single most important point of articulation.

edit: man looking at that above picture I have no idea what the hell is going on there. The legs are obviously comped in and totally the wrong legs but also the arm is super weird. the wrist is totally wrong (the corrugated section shouldn't extend the whole way), the bicep is too round and almost looks like the mkIII bicep and the shoulder is the right shoulder but too small and sort of... flat. Oh and the elbow pad is totally missing.
