Yeah, it's somewhat possible but I certainly don't have the patience or skill to do it and not have it look ghetto in comparison. If I really liked the Hall of Armours idea enough and was a hardcore Iron Man fan, at some point I'd just fork over the cash to HT.

Price is pretty much what I expected. Glad I never had interest to begin with. These prices are getting hard to swallow. It takes about a week (or longer) to convince myself these figures are worth it and pre-order, and even then something deep down probably doubts they actually are :lol.

Just saw the price on this. Hot Toys. . .

you know ever since Tony stark has been iron man I have really grown upon the character, however I am questioning the upcoming movie. I think they might make it TOO action-y. Don't get me wrong I love watching action movies, but for instance and I am sorry if I affend anyone, Expendables 2 was not needed and very dumb in my opinion, that would be a movie with far to many old dudes with aiming of Bob Lee Swagger from shooter. This is very all off topic but just putting my thought out on the table that this movie might be over done. HOpefully not and is just another Awesome movie to watch in I-MAX

The head sculpt really isn't working for me. I think they really nailed it with the one included with the MK IV but this one, not so much. Maybe it'll grow on me but I'd love to see some tweaking before the final release. Chances are he'll have his back to me in the display anyway.

Overpriced for a non-DX? Yep.
Preordered? Yep.

I agree the price is insane, but I gotta get this one way or another. Robert Downey's performance as TS is the spirit behind this character and driving force behind these films. Yeah we love Iron Man but in Imho it's the Downey/Tony Stark part that makes the films more enjoyable . So a chance at Tony this well done, again in my opinion, is just as much a must have as the armor. And the hair style is different but I think the headsculpt rocks ! Something else will have to pass but I gotta have this !

... slightly OT: Why do I have this feeling that someone a little bit handy with a ruler and an X-acto knife could make those Hall of Armor thingies a lot more cheaply than HT is offering them? Truly hardcore hobbyists could even make it light up.

Some balsa wood, some clear styrene..... I could definitely see it happening.

It depends how much detail you need in there. If you wanted every little detail perfectly preserved, the HT ones will be cheaper than a scratch build.
BUT... If you just wanted something maybe 80% there and were willing to paint and add lights to it yourself, you could make one armour vault solid as a vacform master and copies would be about $30 apiece.

wow, you guys have to spend more than $250 for this piece?

man, I guess I'm lucky then...many local sellers offer this in $223-$230, with shipping price estimation is $2-$4
