That's the question a lot of us are asking... I think certain figures are safe like Tusken Raiders, or Ki Adi Mundi. But I'd think any of the major characters in any incarnation are fair game and it may be smart to unload now rather than wait for the bottom to fall out.

I'd say early on these previous Sideshow figures are at the most risk:
ANH:
Farmboy Luke
Princess Leia
Obi Wan Kenobi
Vader (eventually)
Stormtrooper (when it happens, we'll also see sandtroopers)

ESB
Bespin Han
Boba Fett
Vader (either ESB or ROTJ)

ROTJ
Jedi Luke

PT
ROTS Anakin
ROTS Kenobi
Darth Maul

Later on I could some others getting the treatment as well such as Yoda, The Emperor, Lando and the clones. But honestly I think those are all pretty good as-is so the need isn't there and they're fairly recent. I also think HT will stay away from Hoth and the droids for a good long while as the market is good on those, but I would not be surprised if they take a crack at them in 5 years or so.

I think figures like IG-88, Gamorrean Guards, Nik Sant, etc. are safe and will never be released by HT.

I hadn't even thought about that. I've been considering selling my custom Jedi Luke, this might be the time to do so.

Sorry, GB. No PT dolls from Hot Toys. Please remove your Darth Maul and Anakin and Kenobi. Keep your Sideshow versions. They are properly distorted to represent what the PT Saga had to offer.

If they release one Vader, they'll release another as well... he's too popular not to cash in on releasing him more than once. But if I were a betting man, I'd think HT will go for ESB first since neither Medicom or Sideshow has done a ESB specific version.
That would be perfect. To go with bespin Luke.

I'd get the Luke, hold off on the Sideshow Vader.

Now to track one down for under $400..

I hope this holds up well in mass production. I can see this looking like a ball of pubes which looks like a cats chewed it. After a month he starts balding like he's got a disease.

:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl But very true.

I know right I woke up and checked to make sure I didn't dream pre ordering chewie.

I was just thinking the same thing. What a truly surreal development.:love

Boba Fett isn't a bad ass. He flew right into a giant ***** in the ground, screaming like a little girl.

That looks like the strike-a-pose cast of a Pat Benatar video. Cameron does aged Velveeta better than anyone.:lol

SW 1/6 has entered a new era. Nearly all of the SSC Luke/Han/Leias are badly outdated. Outfits/accessories still decent though.

And Vader, stormtrooper, Fett and the core heroes (in all outfits) are 100% certain to be done by HT in the next 2-3 years. SW is getting the Marvel treatment.

What you thing about? Elvis or Hot toys?

That's a decent custom Chewy but it is not in the same league as the Hot Toys figure.

:goodpost:

I have a suspicion that the PT will be quietly "de-emphasized" by Disney. There was just too much backlash and bile (it seemed for many fans George went from reclusive genius to rapist of childhoods) over that era to want to build on it.

At least we can all agree that he'll come out better looking than this20140926_092113.jpg

Chewie is almost perfect, he can always be improved upon, but does'nt require much from the pics that are surfacing.
Can't wait to add him to my collection!

How dare that swine wear a Wookie! I'd love to see an activist douse her in red paint. Where's Devil when you need him?

For the record: I've seen a couple people asking where Chewy's heavy blaster came from; Expanded Universe, videogame, etc...
It was in the first friggin film! It's a starmtrooper BlasTech DLT-19 Heavy Blaster Rifle that Han Solo was carrying when Han and Luke infiltrated the detention block to rescue Leia. Han tossed the rifle to Chewy, who promptly went ape-***** with it.

IDK where my head was at. Forgetting that is like forgetting my own name.

I deserve lashings and took yours like a man. Thank you sir may I please have another!

It's okay, just say 10 Hail Hydras and repeat the opening scroll for all 3 Original Trilogy films and you shall be absolved :lecture

I call coincidence. That interview pissed off a lot of people.

It was purely coincidence. The entire thing was an April Fools joke by someone on OSR. If there's anything to go by at this point would be the two members talking about what they have in store through a "source" at Disney.

I was pissed at that too.

That's some coincidence but if that's the case then I pray coincidence keeps on rolling! Show us them Marines! :rock

You should wait until that other company gets the license. You know, the one that makes better figures than Hot Toys.

I've waited 30 odd years for 1/6 figures to come up to a standard I expect. If I have to I'll wait another 30.

If you enjoy forking over your money for mediocrity, that's on you.

Enjoy it while you're sitting in the retirement home.

Is it just me or is the Chewie headsculpt off? His eyes and brow ridge droops down too much. He kinda looks like the bigfoot from harry and the henderson, but with more hair around the face. I think the eyes should also be a bit longer instead of the small round circle in the sculpt.

Welcome to the thread. And welcome to the board.

I wanted the hasbro 12" chewie so bad back in the day.... I didn't even care how bad it looked lol. I like how it was just a wire with hair on it lol

I remember the Hunt for that one, along with all the exclusives....now you can buy that piece of furry crap for $20 on ebay

The VOTC 12 inch chewy was the one I really hunted for...At the time he came out, he wasn't a bad figure...But what I really liked was they they used boxes that were reminiscent of the old 12 inch figures for this line...

I bought the Original Trilogy Collection 12-inch Boba Fett at TRU a decade or so ago. Still sealed, the figure's up to $70 on Amazon. I'm looking forward to pairing it with HT's version.
