Futzing - someone get a brush!!!

I hate futzing this figure, lol.

Not that futzing in itself is the issue. It's just, I have no room for him in the detolf, so I bought an acrylic display case for ol' Chewie to flee from the dust particles. Right out of the box he was fine when I put him in the case.

However, after futzing and combing the tangled mess he calls hair... well, let's just say Chewie needs to stop playing with power outlets. Took hours to destabilize the ****ing static shock. :lol

Each time he would go in the case, a new set of stray hairs would cling toward the inner walls.

By the way. This goddamn figure cost me a lot of money. This was the cornerstone. The architecture of my DEMISE. It went something like this:

I hate you all.

It'll be a modified 12-Back. Stormtrooper will be joined by Sandies; Adding SSC Pilot Luke. Tusken and Jawa will be SSC; have to bash a Death Squad Commander eventually.

Did I mention that I hate you all?

But what really pushed me over the edge? Harmy's De-specialized Edition Star Wars.

The restored film is stunning in all its lo-fi, '70s glory.

You're welcome....

Told you you'd CAVE. :wave

There's always the possibility that I'll complete the run and decide not to keep them all. But I need to see that group on the shelf first. ****in' Chewbacca. :rotfl

I got lucky and found Obi Wan and Han at retail locally.

Now, what's this about t a despecialised edition? Please send me one...

You can download a copy, or I think it was JimmyJones who hooked me up with Blu-Ray versions.

Google Harmy's Despecialized Edition. Unbelievable how good it looks. Like the first time I saw it in theatres as a little kid.

ZE, how'd you get the hair so smooth on yours post-futz? Mine always gets frizzy and takes work to calm it down.

I've had no serious issues with frizz. Did you read one of my posts a little ways back in this thread? I use the included comb almost exclusively:

Teeth to separate matted strands and blend them. Pick end to lift sections away from the body. Flat end to smooth and shape. Then my fingertips (dry) for fine adjustments or "pointing" strands.

You did an amazing job. I must have rough fingers, they keep snagging strands. I admit I didn't use that comb provided -- I used an old toothbrush and a toothpick mostly. Maybe when I reset my display next week I'll give it another go with that comb.

Thanks; it's a good two to three hours of futzing there. With ongoing adjustments. I only just now filled out Chewbacca's cheek fur slightly, based on stills from '77.

I work with my hands so I'm not sure they're all that smooth, but I do have pretty good dexterity.

Having a day to futz and work on 1/6 while there's light, then back to work on the computer for the evening. I'll post more Chewbacca snaps in a bit.

Chewie getting hassled by the Fuzz.

"Yes officer, I have an open-carry permit."

"Just checking. You can go about your business. Please!"

If there was a yellow line coming out of Luke's saber, that would look kind of funny.:lol

Other than that, they all look pretty great there, Luke especially.

Yes!! Seriously! For Christmas, my friend (goes by Cleveland Brown on SSF) gave me a Bluray copy of Harmy's Despecialized Edition of the original Star Wars! It is so epic! The definitive high definition of the original version of Star Wars that I watched so many times as a child!
