HT Stormtroopers $400
HT Spacetrooper $220
HT Sandtrooper $240
HT Darth Vader $250
HT Luke Skywalker $220
HT Princess Leia $220
HT Ben Kenobi $240
HT Han Solo $220
HT Chewbacca $250
SS C-3PO $230

Total: $2,490

It's only going to be Chewbacca for me. I can't do $220 for simple plain clothed characters (ie. Leia and far boy Luke)

New Hope Luke and Leia have very simple designs. I'm not knocking them, it just when it comes to the dollars they are very simple. Chewie is different.

Simple is definitely the best with my potential set up.

One Vader, one Obi-Wan, one Luke, one Han, one Leia, (maybe Chewie if it pans out), the droids, & a trooper or two.

A second display for some Mos Eisley / Dune Sea geezers & gadgets - &.. done. :)

Dude, I've been playing this game with myself for the better part of a year. This is what I've come up with:

Definitely:
  • HT Stormtrooper x3 (check)...if HT goes Iron Man on this and produces stunt helmet variants, I'll swap two but maintain a group of three.
  • HT Luke & Han Stormtrooper Disguise (Probable)
  • HT Sandtrooper x2
  • SSC Probe Droid (check)
  • SSC Pilot Luke...if someone produces Snowspeeder Luke I switch; may even consider a bash if I can lick the jacket problem.
  • SSC R2D2 (A prop for Pilot Luke)
  • RS Propmasters Stormtrooper Helmet

Maybe:
  • HT Princess Leia (Might be fun to have her drawing on stormtroopers)
  • SSC TIE Pilot (Not sure how well that translates into a figure. They actually look better to me sitting in cockpits.)
  • HT Darth Vader
  • EFX Stormtrooper Hero Helmet (If it ever gets made)
  • E-11 prop replica

So that's a minimum of 11 Star Wars items; with the remote possibility of the I'm-going-buck-wild-16-item collection.

More likely to stop at a dozen or so.

I won't go any deeper. Although troopers and pilots are arguably background, they're primary antagonists and designs I love, and Luke and Leia...pretty much are 1977 Star Wars.

It's entirely possible I'll change my mind yet again, but at this point I really think I've exhausted every other possibility.

So how much does all that cost? If you include all three prop replicas and likely pricing it's around....gaaaaaahh.

Whatevs.

This. I'm already trying to prepare my wife for the onslaught of credit charges over the next year. :lol

My girl and I (soon-to-be fiancee) have one joint bank account for convenience. We split expenses; but maintain separate savings and chequing accounts and separate credit cards. Within reason, we believe in maintaining autonomous finances and for the most part don't question each other so long as the household runs as it should. Makes things like buying stormtrooper helmets easier. :yess:

That's how my wife and I do it. We both have full time jobs and the system works like a dream.

I unfortunately can't afford to play the upgrade game. I already have most of Sideshow versions, I can live with them, and they are already paid for. Wish I could, but I can't. :(

Same here. Partially because I can't afford the upgrades and partly because I don't care enough about the character. I'll most likely be getting HT's Han and Chewie, though.

I wish I could do what you're doing. And who knows, money-wise I may just have to.

But I know there's no way I can keep the human characters from Sideshow -- maybe Ben if you got a repaint, but Han, Luke and Leia even with a repaint just are not up to par. But I truly thought I could keep the troopers... until I saw them.

I'm only doing it because of the costs. I just can't afford to upgrade, plus this hobby is starting to get away from me financially.

I hear ya. I'm feeling the pinch myself and have cut way back from where I once was. I no longer get alternate heroes outfits (i.e. Hoth) or background characters. No R5 for me... although I'm tempted by Jawas (since I don't see them as background).

:lol It's easy to say "no" to these when you're skint! These damn things cost a small mint so I have to be very selective in what I get. I can't justify upgrades/dupes unless I truly love the character, so I'm just trying to move forward and not look back. I can justify getting the Jawas (although I might not), but not another farmer Luke.

Dude you are gonna love the RS Props Stormtrooper helmet! Be careful though, it will drag you into the 1:1 world in which it makes everything else just look like toys!!!

I had a PT Detolf all planned a while ago, then I started selling all my PT figures - Hasbro 4" & the one & only SSC Ep2 clone I had, & put the whole thing on ice. All I wanted in 1/6 scale was six figures - tops, anyway.

These days, it's about a modest yet 'all bases covered' approach for me. A couple of my personal faves from each OT film, & a second Tatooine focus.

We've gotta be smart with this hobby, so once my small list is well & truly covered - that's it.

I recently bought one Rainman figure and glorified accessory for slightly less than this. I'm a bonehead.
