For something that costs so much... they really should get it right and treat it like a human likeness.

Did a little manip - not perfect - of what I see wrong with the dome. Had my friend StarWars Collector make it into a gif showing the before and after.

I pre-order the fig, and it's close enough for me. Hoping HT's version of TESB Vader will be their best yet. I can wait 10 years............:wink1:

That change in the arc is exactly what I was talking about...the darkening/ blackening the eye socket and edge of eyelid would even eliminate the need to lower the dome because it would already appear to be obscured....
nice job!

Notice black eye sockets and black edge of eyelid ( unlike empire and Jedi versions which are silver like the forehead)

Someone please email this to Hot Toys

I don't know who'd be the best person to address but here-
Please pass this email along to your fellow collectors
Might be able to influence them like the Chris Reeve superman.

There's been 12" versions of Vader for nearly 40 years. It would be nice to have one that you can hold in your hands that looks like a shrunken down Vader from the movies instead of simply yet another 12" version of Vader, even if it is a bit more detailed and better quality overall.

It's time for a "definitive" 1/6 version of Vader, one that has as much attention to detail and accuracy as the prop and model replicas that have come out in the past few years. Vader's the most iconic SW visual of all.:dunno

Just far too stylized and perfect. People seem to just accept it however. If this was a dodgy tiny stark sculpt I imagine the board would explode but as its not an actual face sculpt people seem to just look over the inaccuracies.

If you can rep these gents for me, please do so. Thanks. :duff

LOL... coming back to it... I can see I should probably have made the crown of the dome a little taller. But oh well, even without that, the fix to the eyebrows and actually pulling the skirts of the dome out a bit helped tremendously.

Huh, I hadn't noticed before, but it looks like they actually DID make the mask fairly asymmetrical. Maybe not as extreme as on the real mask, but when you reverse the image it's definitely clear that they did.

Just too bad they got the mask so close, but not the dome.

Here's the closest comparison shot I could find, so those of you with photoshop skilz can do a more scrutinzing comparison. Tried to scale the pictures based on size and angle of mouth.

Cheek looks all wrong here the bit where it meets the nose seems too thick and the top edge seems off....... Just sayin' like

Has anyone ever tried 3d scanning an accurate 1:1 scale vader helmet (I.e. The. efx helmet)? I think the 3d printing medium has been getting more accessible these days, and I'm guessing that's one way to get a pretty accurate 1/6 scale vader helmet.

i haven't seen any shots where they eyes look red either, i guess i shouldn't be surprised as ht did black lenses for just about every single predator mask too. :gah:

I don't remember who took this but you can see the red lenses.

The eye sockets should still be in black, and for Anh version, the eyelid edge should also be black, so you cannot see the rim while his dome is on...
And the gunmetal on his upper right cheek should curve away toward he edge of his nose...

The domes skirt should stick out forward more at the brow and lessen the arches, that'd help tremendously

I don't think eFX would be very happy that people scan, scale down and print their helmets.

I scanned and printed a fan owned Vader helmet, armor and shins. The thread can be found in the Custom Creations section.

I so want to like and buy this, but looking at this I know I will have just as many if not more issues then I do with the ssc version, and I just can't bring my self to spend the dollars on the same issues

I guess it can never be "perfect" I don't mind because this will be my first DV but I can see why others wouldn't want to buy it

Dream on my friend. ;) I'm all in for accuracy, but then why we would buy the "next" figure(s) (Vader, Fett, Stormtrooper or others) a collectible company wants to release some day, if we already have the most accurate?

True that. Hehe. Perhaps fan owned accurate helmets would be a better reference. I'll check out your thread! I really want to start learning about the 3d printing medium for 1/6 scale figures.
