Remember, Mace got thrown out a high-rise window later. So payback got him. LOL
Let's just stop this guys.
Let's agree that vader needs work for that price
Then say your piece once or twice and move on. You (and others like you that aren't suitably impressed) can just move on and stop bitching about it post after post. Gets boring.
Not even close and that's from someone that liked SSC's Deluxe. I honestly don't understand most of the nitpicking on this figure. A lot of the guys criticizing it don't really seem to know what they're talking about. Only that it's "off", not a home run, blah, blah. Guaranteed it'll be the best 1:6 Vader outside of a custom on release (not even limiting it to ANH).
Feel sorry for you guys if you can't enjoy this figure. Have fun waiting for HT ANH V2 (10 years?). Or maybe put your money where your mouths are and buy a Hurricaine. There are options if anyone's that serious about it.
Honestly really sick of the belly-aching on this one.
Sorry, couldn't resist... moving on!
All I can stew over, is that:
a) the Marmit ANH Vader is not possible to own,
b) the SSC ANH Vader is turrbl - &,
c) the new HT ANH Vader isn't delivering on it's namesake yet.
Bugger the EpV / VI versions, give us an accurate ANH Vader first.
Indeed we need a good OT Vader. I will wait in buying a new 1/6 Vader till I see one that I truly enjoy. My budget is happy to wait, and I'm happy to fund other projects at this moment
Suspect your assumption to be wrong. These images are of the proto from when the figure was first announced. Budget Stark took video of this on display back in December and looks identical to this.I hope THIS helps - I 'found' these high res photos on the Hot Toys Store site - I can only 'assume' they're photos of a finished production figure in their store in Hong Kong. Gotta say he's looking more like A ROTS Vader than a ANH Vader...
I think those are older photos
I'm thinking we're never going to get an accurate ANH sculpt unless if it's a prop replica (eFX) that is going directly for that look.
With them having to get approval from Disney/Lucas, they most likely want companies doing their generalized vision of Vader. I just can't imagine Disney handing Hot Toys proper reference photos of the actual ANH Helmet/Dome.

Well HT has made the mask at least somewhat asymmetrical like it should be, so clearly they aren't being restricted to the idealized ROTS look too much. And I can't imagine Lucasfilm would have a problem with them using a proper, flared out helmet either.
I think what really happened was either that their artists just didn't sculpt it correctly, or HT decided they wanted it to look like this.
