I wish they would do a nice normal straight on or a nice side view, i want to see the helmet without flash effects too. I think its giving the effect that its glossy.
Quality of the criticism means everything. I could read demoreathis' constructive criticism all day and agreed those posts would be helpful to HT if indeed they do monitor these threads (since they actually give HT something specific to work with as opposed to saying Vader looks "off" or the like). The majority of the complaining however I'd argue is basically worthless and adds nothing to the conversation. Has any of the complaining about Han and Chewy 'paid off', btw? If anything, it's arguable that the complaints actually made Han worse. So your theory that complaints can only be helpful to HT and the consumer is demonstratably false. Anyway, believe what you want, but if I'm bored with the comments, I'll continue to say so and so much the better if it bores you. At least it'll give you some empathy for me in a roundabout way. This figure has "evolved" - somehow - over the months and various shows. It looks good, then terrible (didn't you yourself have a chuckle at how Vader looked at SDCC?), then decent, then just okay... even the too-tall height seems to have been corrected for the first time in the Ani-con display. So this "just move on" thing isn't really fair.
And there are people on these boards that know Vader's mask better than HT or SSC ever will. This figure has looked a little off since day one, and HT obviously monitors feedback somehow otherwise Ben and Han wouldn't have changed. So negative feedback (and perhaps the more the better) can yield positive outcomes.
Everyone in the Leia and Luke threads are suitably impressed because there's a consensus that those are nailed or very close to it - which is what HT wants to see. If there's a problem, where the consensus is mostly negative - like with Vader, Han, Chewy and Ben - I'm guessing they want to hear it.
So if you like it then say so - as many times as you like. Same for others who don't like it. It's the "stop disagreeing with me because it gets boring - to me!" thing and the "others like you!" accusations that actually gets boring.
I think han looks better now [emoji14]

Initially I did, too, in the sense that it looks more like Ford but simultaneously less like Solo (first sculpt, even though it didn't look much like Ford, did capture a bit of Solo grit, I thought). Anyway, I just mean that the new sculpt has received a very mixed reception. Somewhere pretty close to 50% liking it more and 50% less so than the original.I think han looks better now [emoji14]

Yeah, that's the one mate. This one right?
It does have a bit more ANH feel there.
Haha, knew you'd like that line. So, just so we're all clear - you get to say whatever you want, but the "majority" posting on here is "basically worthless"? And you end all that with something about "empathy"... for you?
I'm assuming you know that Trevor Grove doesn't participate here anymore at least partially because of all the negativity he attracted. Dave's new rules were partly in response to all the negativity on this forum and the endless bashing of these products. So if you think they welcome useless trashing of their prototypes, I'd say it's you that's mistaken since they've taken steps to tamp it down and try and create a more respectful environment to attract VIPs back.On this forum, there have been or are many employees of Sideshow (and others like Asmus,) top industry professionals like Silentsurfer and Trevor Grove, the best 1/6 customizers in the world, and many, many people who have deep knowledge of - and deep passion for - these characters, and 1/6 in general. If you believe that what's said on this forum is ignored by companies like HT then the only thing demonstrably false is your opinion of your opinion.
Ben still doesn't look like Guinness and Han is a mixed bag. If 50% (roughly) of collectors prefer the old sculpt, then the criticism didn't produce a positive result for them. Anyway, let's just agree to disagree.Whatever you think of the results, there was a lot of negative feedback/complaints about inaccuracy on Han and Ben... and HT changed both sculpts. That is the very definition of demonstrable.
Agreed but from another angle it looks off. Strange and I can't put my finger on what is "off" about it. Like others, gonna have to wait for youtube reviews.

I wasn't angrily dumping on anyone. Just interjecting that the criticisms this figure is receiving are unwarranted (and not by the likes of demoreathis). At the end of the day, it'll still be the best Vader ever mass produced. My last line of that previous post you quoted was always intended as a joke (which I thought was obvious) as I wasn't expecting you of all people to have empathy for my position. You angrily dump on anyone who disagrees with your view... then laugh when you're called on it?
Well, if people leave or were afraid to post here and new rules were implemented in order to mitigate it, then I'd say it was pretty pervasive. Of all the criticisms posted in this thread, what percentage would you say were "constructive" (rhetorical question, just to be clear)?I'm not saying jerks - the minority - don't exist on the forum. I'm saying that in a broader sense - the majority - this forum is overflowing with deep knowledge of both the characters and 1/6 in general and companies pay attention to what's said.
HT changed them but only marginally for the better in Ben's case. He still is not even close to a dead ringer like many of HT's sculpts but whatever. I'm definitely not trying to distract by "waving my arms" in regards to the V2 sculpts but IF HT truly did respond to fan criticism in both cases, then we clearly got mixed results and not undisputed improvements. (Which is supposed to be the result of criticism and HT revisions due to said criticism, right?) After Han, there were quite a few comments in the Leia thread (including by me) that expressed hope that HT will stop tinkering and not mess up Leia in a misguided attempt to make her better. That indicates that not everyone is happy with Han's revision so therefore the criticism did not necessarily produce the result that the criticizers might have desired. Can we agree on that? Regardless, it's clearly pointless to continue discussing so hopefully we can just leave it be.1. There was a lot of negative feedback on this forum re: the Ben and Han sculpts.
2. And then HT changed them.
Conclusion: even if HT's second attempts weren't bullseyes, they responded to that negative feedback and tried to improve. You seem to be dodging the point by waving your arms regarding the V2 sculpts.
And if you think the Ben sculpt didn't improve from V1 to V2, you must have Alec Guiness' eyesight.
Hmmm, maybe we'll be seeing this figure a little earlier than anticipated.Plastic enemies just posted this...
