So, just to refresh my memory...

Sideshow ANH Vader's issues were... ?

From what I can remember:

- Too tall (fixable using any number of bodies out there, or modding the one it came with)
- Dome is wrong (most people have used the Hasbro)
- Gloves are too long (kinda hard to fix, but you can always cut them)
- Toothpick lightsaber (no easy fix for that, really)
- Boots are hard, don't allow for ankle movement (has anybody tried changing the boots and using just the shin guards?)
- Cape and tunic don't drape naturally (there are some options for replacement out there, lforigno and others)

Did the mask itself or other parts have any glaring issues? What else kept it from being a great Vader?

All the above and some!:) The best part of that figure was the suit which is excellent. But the rest...:horror

For almost all good things you need to wait for years. :wink1: I'm ready to wait for a really good 1/6 Vader. For now nothing I've seen: HT, SSC or custom, looks ANH or Vader enough for me to spend my money. I own the giraffe SSC ANH Vader and until something really good comes I'll keep that.
ummm...We HAVE waited for years! :wink1:

It did have a lot of issues, but the only ones I found to be truly egregious were the height and the narrow dome. Once you take care of those you'll still have a pretty decent Vader figure I think.

I wish Marmit had released theirs: it was truly ahead of the curve:

and to think that was 7-8 years ago or more

Actually, it was close to 15 years ago. It was before sideshow or even Medicom had the Star Wars license. All that existed at the time were the mass market hasbro figures. It may be impressive now but at the time, it would have been unbelievable. A true tragedy.

boy, i do lose track of time - thanks for the correction

Yeah, there's something about the proportions of the Marmit prototype that just look so right, and no other official or customized figure has been able to achieve.
