Hopefully they will have fixed the helmet.
I'm not hopeful though.
Not a chance.

Well.. not exactly. For real HT set out to do a figure and just do it how they want, they dont care if it looks inaccurate and horrid.
Well.. not exactly.
Their figures definitely have a degree of 'stylizing' to them though - no denying that.
A figure that's marketed as an EP4 1977 Vader should look as such, but their interpretation is likely due to a combination of things, that in the end make it more a 'toy' than a museum piece.
Problem is, what they're charging doesn't convey that to us.
What's the consensus?
Diznee.
Diznee is the key to all this.
If that's the case, it is what it is. It'll be the best 1:6 Vader out there excluding $1000 customs, so it's fine with me.
Absolutely. I find it staggering a majority here just don't get the stylized version shown is almost definitely insisted upon by the house of mouse.
I don't forsee any changes.
In the end we get the product approved by Disney. There should be no doubt about this, they are the licensor and have final say. The criteria for approval could be a design bible, some sort of Star Wars policy, or it could just be the Disney guy in charge of the Star Wars Hot Toys account looking at the first prototype and saying "good enough!" Just because he works in Disney's licensing department doesn't mean he cares about 1/6 figures...
HT could have a super film accurate museum quality Vader prototype sitting on Chan's desk right now, but if Mickey picked the one that is too tall or has in an incorrect dome, or whatever for production, then that is the one we get!

Haha, CG, you really hate this figure, hey? Regardless what you think, it will handily beat SSC's Deluxe, which WILL make it the best mass produced 1:6 Vader out there. Maybe you'll like it better once in-hand shots come out. But supposing you don't, is it really that big a deal that you need to go on and on about it? There'll be another figure, CG!This i seriously doubt, the proto looks like **** which doesn't give me much hope of the mp looking too much better. Stop saying this is the best 1/6 vader, its a terrible generic representation at 300$ and nothing more.
To be honest, I'm only guessing, as I've never looked into Hurricane's custom (there's lots of options, so I'm assuming for a fully loaded version). All the characters I've been interested in or followed in the customs section (Beto and Rainman, primarily) have been $1k+, so I'm using that as the 'going rate'.Do the custom Vaders seen on here really cost $1000? I've seen some pics but never thought they'd be that high - higher than some of those fully custom figs (i.e. clothes and head all 100% created) such as The Dude and No Country for Old Men villain.
I know Matrix69's great custom Vader would be around $500 to put together today (simply because I priced getting a SSC DX, SSC ANH and a Kaiyodo kit plus supplies to do it) but I had no idea some of the other Vaders could be $1000. Is that Hurricane's or someone else's Vader there were that high?
I'm really not sure I believe this theory. Why would Lucasfilm or Disney care whether or not a Hot Toys figure was accurate or not? Think of endless licensing products with any one Star Wars character and how different they all look, from toasters to shower heads, do they really say "Hrm that looks TOO close to the ANH Vader, try again." I just can't see this happening.
