This really shows just how much detail is in the HT chestbox (metal Greeblies fully standing off the box.) The SSC ANH chestbox just really isn't even in the same category.
Agreed. No way would I downgrade it with SSC's comparatively crude version (no slight against them -- their ANH Vader has to be 5+ years old).

That beautiful helmet:)

Great pic. :duff

The mask could've been a little more stout but overall it, along with the helmet, is a real winner.

The Vader Sideshow left us with was but a learner, but Hot Toys has given us the master...a master of evil, because of that damn gap!

Yeah, I think that's the tweak HT already did - making it a bit more stout than the proto and reducing the cheek slope to remove the "drooping face" look the proto had. The nose on the production figure seems slightly shorter than the proto.

Even the Sideshow DX mask (which to my eye is the furthest from being accurate) looks pretty close to accurate in profile pics like the one above. The real test is front-on and fortunately the HT delivers in that regard.

It looks better than it did in the proto, but I think HT could've made the "face" a bit wider.

I for one can't wait to see pics of Vader with the robes OVER the chest armor. :lol

I think you're right. Going to have to make the HT work.

Just as well, I didn't really want to rip apart my old 'classic' SS ANH. :lol

Can't wait to see your photos. When you futz him, push the codpiece up. If you look at photos of Dave Prowse in the costume, the codpiece was always riding high and not covering his dark lord. LOL. His legs should look long and his torso should look short. That will bring the ANH appearance alive and will settle everyone's fears I think. I would love to see this figure posed in the simple "I've been waiting for you Obi-Wan - we meet again at last" stance. Very simple but very effective and it should hide the gloves a bit because his non-saber hand is hidden behind the cape.

Cheers,

Chris

Out for delivery. Lord Vader is on his way!

Was just watching this. A really great few close-ups of the ESB suit/helmet (but really try to ignore what Prowse says at 5.50 onward.)

Damn.

Looking forward to your futzing and pics. :rock

Cool, I'll have to wait at least 2 more months until I receive this figure. Where did you buy it from?

eBay seller Timcent88. Didn't pay his list price, he will deal outside eBay.

Thanks for the tips. Any advise on getting Vader looking his best is totally welcome.
