Using a Medicom base for the Droid, much better than the crappy HT one, what a joke!

An excellent suggestion! :clap

Just swapped mine over to a Medicom.

The HT base looks like an after thought when they realized there wasn't room to fit the droid on Vader's base - but didn't want to spend much more money on rectifying the situation! :lol

Can someone please tell me the type or brand of screwdriver they use on Vader as the eyeglass screwdrivers are too large and these screws seem like they strip easily. I unfortunately tore the belt within seconds of simple removing the box to put the batteries in. :(
I don't want to do anymore damage.

I would call sideshow and have them send a replacement.

I haven't done battery installation yet for my Vader, but I plan on using JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) drivers. They're great for little screws from Asian countries and tend to grip the screw heads better than a standard Philips. I use them and they work great. You can find them on Amazon.

Sorry about your belt. I would contact your retailer for a replacement.

Good recommendation.

The only battery installing I've done is putting the batteries in the LED lightsaber arm to see how it looks illuminated. Just simply used the smallest Phillips I could find and it seemed to work just fine. While I was futzing with the cape and attaching the lightsaber hilt to the belt, the box on his left side popped off. Once I saw how relatively flimsy the belt is and I was able to reattach the box properly after a few attempts, I decided they're staying on for good. I'd rather have an intact, nice looking figure without batteries in it that I can display than have a damaged figure that got damaged just so I could see a small piece light up.

Hopefully you can get a replacement belt.

Yeah, I've been kinda thinkin the same thing about the battery install. On one hand, even though I'll probably never use the electronic features other than the saber, I'd like to know they actually work. Then I can take the batteries out and be done. But, if it means I risk damaging the fragile belt as others have done, or risk some other damage, I'm having a hard time justifying doing it.

I would -rep if I could. That d-bag has to be the most obnoxious, annoying 'YouTuber' I've seen in awhile.

Oh, and he was wrong.

Yikes, that was irritating.

Wrong, he was right (and HILARIOUS!). You're wrong and obnoxious. looking into a way to negative Rep you...

:lol:rotfl:lol

It's all good. I thought he made some great points. But (I guess) I can see how some might not jibe with his over-the-top personality....especially people who are wrong. :wink1:

Bearded_Mayham, I contacted SS and sent them a few pictures last night the moment it happened. I find it very difficult to clasp the belt closed. Anyone have a special technique? Fingers are too big to get under the buckle. Tweezers and pliers?

Zinjay, Thanks for the recommendation on the drivers. I looked them up but feel that the smallest driver is still too big for these little screws. I'll look into them further.

Its wise to open these figures up nowadays. Imagine the poor saps that try to keep these mint in box only to open them one day to find a faulty part. :horror

That's pretty much the only reason I would install the batteries also, just to verify the electronic features do indeed work. Once I saw that you essentially have to strip the figure's clothing to insert the batteries for the breathing effect and also the boxes on the belt prone to popping off, I decided the possible repercussions far outweighed simply verifying for a few seconds that electronics that quite frankly aren't that big of a deal to me, work properly.

For the sake of risking damage to the figure, I'll just presume that they probably do indeed work, being that it's a brand new figure. :lol

I like to think that people realistically only get offended about something when they know it's true and it applies to them as a person. Hence, why they're sensitive to it. Lashing out at those who bring the truth to them tends to be a common defense mechanism, so to speak.

How one reacts to criticism is generally a good harbinger on how accurate it is.

I know the HT vader came with tweezers maybe try those for the belt. but me personally I`m going to us the extra sideshow vader belt on mine as I don't have to look for two switches under each box. instead of just one big switch on the back of the ss vader dlx belt

My comments were certainly made tongue-in-cheek. Glad to see that you picked up on it. :hi5:

Not sure who this is directed at...myself or QuiGon...? Doesn't much matter, I guess. We're good here.
