Thanks!

I don't know much about paint beyond acrylic but you definitely want to use water-soluble paint. Even acrylic can get "tacky" over time. But it will really only effect the inner robe.

Yours turned out great. I'm actually doing mine over and trying to add some more texture like brush strokes. I found that spraying the rattle can and brushing on gives a nice texture since it dries on the brush really fast

Here are some better pictures of Vader!

HT uses Chinese paint.

How do I know what they use. :lol But they seal it of course. I was talking about unsealed paint. I wouldn't seal the new paint on Vader's armor because then you can't get it off if you ever need to go back to original.

But don't freak -- 'tacky' doesn't mean its gonna peel up into a goo over time.

ah, yeah - good call on the sealer

Guys. Regarding the dome. Don't compare to fan made or licensed. Go check the movie. It's all over the place and actually very rarely sits as low as most people think it does. The widows peak generally sits at the upper edge of the upper nose groove. Sometimes extending down to the bottom edge, but never lower. Painting the eye brows black will hide them under the dome and make things look more right. Before doing such a major mod, please don't rush things.

I would completely and unreservedly recommend this over the Sideshow version.

Seeing everyone complain about the electronics though is slightly putting me off. But I don't have a Vader in my collection at present.

Do you plan on using the electronics? They are a gimmick if you ask me. Definitely not a reason to not get this figure. It has incredible shelf presence even without the saber and belt boxes lit. If the electronics issues bother you, then go for the Sideshow, but in my opinion, it is an inferior product and you will most likely regret not picking this up.

Like DB says, it really depends on whether or not you are going to use the electronics. If you do want electronics, maybe the sideshow deluxe Darth Vader would be a better fit for you. If not, this figure seems to be far more accurate.

How long til it's gone do you reckon? I've got so much to pay out for atm! :(

I wouldn't wait too long. Now that it's shipping, it's bound to sell out.

Get HT's. Regardless of the electronics problems, it still looks better than Sideshow's. And that's what you're going to notice when it's on your shelf--how it looks.

Tbh it's not as bad as I felt when I got him.

It was a pain in the aaa to get those small betteries into the belt boxes, but when they're in it looks supercool.

As for the voice feature :
As annoying it is to have to undress the figure to activate it I found a relatively comfortable way to switch it on/off:

- You open the belt and put up the tunic and the cape.
- You open the cod piece and the back of the chest plate.
- Then you open the back of the vest and there you can feel the switch under the velcro of the suit. The sound feature can easily be switched on and off now.

That's it.
No need to take off all clothes, helmet and armor.

So:
Get the figure!
It's really impressive and I think it beats the SSC Deluxe Vader in every way.
I am excited what HT do with TESB and ROTJ Vader.
