I finally just ordered this with my rewards points ($270). Ending up only costing me $29.99 (the NRD). :yess: I wanted to wait till he showed in stock, but starting to worry he could possibly sell out since Sideshow no longer gives low stock warnings and all of a sudden somethings gone or wait listed which I then wouldn't be able to use my reward points. Since some places are sold out and with some people saying they called Popcultcha (Australia's distrbutor) and they're being told he is sold out & they can't get anymore. But don't worry guys, since I ordered he'll be around for awhile! :lol When I procrastinate too long I usually just screw myself, when I jump in they last. This is my favorite version of Darth Vader and can't wait to see in hand how much better he really is than my Sideshow ANH & Deluxe ESB/Rotj Vader. :clap . Now I just gotta hope I actually get a brand new one and not someone's reject sent back to Sideshow and they tried to pawn it off on some one else.... :slap

Not the best picture but I am happy i picked this figure up despite my initial plan to wait for a RotJ version.

I will politely ask again :D

Get the HT, man. I was on the fence for a while since I own the SSC Deluxe Vader and was actually pretty happy with it. But after getting HT's and comparing the two, there really is no comparison. The HT is better in virtually every way. I get the feeling HT's is a higher end collectible and SSC's is more toy-like. And as others have said, forget the electronics. I do wish the voice feature was better implemented, and the saber arm and belt boxes were easier to turn on, but at the end of the day he is standing next to Obi-Wan in my Detolf looking mighty beastly. At that point, electronics won't matter at all. They are a fun, neat little gimmick that I enjoyed playing with, but certainly not what makes this guy great. Pick him up before you have to pay eBay prices.

May not be the best picture (as you said), but Lord Vader makes a great addition to your setup there! You just need to futz him a little.

Agreed, pretty much switched out the arm and put him in the case. Should have more time over the weekend to fix it up a bit. :hi5:

Anyone know what the official height for this figure is? I'm still debating on whether I want this or the Sideshow version and the main thing that's bothering me are the helmets. Is the Sideshow ROTJ helmet screen accurate to that movie?

Switching out the arm was ridiculously difficult and frustrating.

That's absurd for a figure with this price.

Overall an extremely poor design. As has been stated, putting the sound function in the base would have been a much better idea. Or, leaving it out entirely and lowering the price by $20 would have been even nicer.

:exactly:

Hot Toys is definitely heading south. Poor design, pointless gimmicks, yet rising prices. $300? :cuckoo:
I say lose the sound chip and the gyno-droid and put the light feature on an IR remote for on/off.
Of course, if this were the case, Hot Toys would want $450 for the figure . . .
(Oh! There's a piece of diecast in his codpiece! Make that $530.)

That is a good looking Sith Lord, though. Nice futzing. :clap

I still find his price & lack of thoughtful design . . . disturbing.

Thank you.

I agree, most of their "bonus features" are pretty useless... although I personally didn't have too much trouble swapping the lightsaber arm. Now trying to get the little batteries into those little belt boxes... :slap Not worth the green-yellow-magenta lights you end up with.

I actually wish the voice function worked -- its very clear and loud and would be fun to use once in a blue moon if all you had to do was click the button.

Good to know, as I'm still on the fence with this one.

I've seen other collectibles with infrared remotes to activate the gimmicks (Bandai for instance).
The technology is available, it's not cost prohibitive.
What's up HT? Lost your edge?
:dunno
