I never bothered with the voice electronics. Belt boxes and saber weren't that bad.
The electronics aren't that big of a deal anyway. Almost all of the main issues with the figure are with extra features that don't add that much anyway IMO. Otherwise, it is a very solid figure, with few major issues. It is still worth it if you like this version of Vader's costume. Of course, I bet there will be a reissue with slight changes if Rogue One includes Vader as a character.
My only issue with the Jazz repaints: they seem covered in dirt. Sorry to be the sole voice of the opposing side....I mean, they look very nice, but that looks like Luke Stormtrooper in Tatooine deco
I meant more that the electronics added to his cost unnecessarily and the problems being with his gloves, his helmet not being far down enough, etc...
Sorry if I wasn't clear.
I think I do like his ESB costume more. It's glossier, has the chest armor over the robes, the writing on the chestbox and the two silver tusks. But it would probably be a very long time before they make another?
I'm conflicted because Vader is one of, if not my favourite characters in Star Wars and I'm not sure if I should take a pass on this one.
so what's the consensus on the placement of the Saber Hook... is it too far to the back? different pics look like it's in different places... sometimes right beside the left belt box, sometimes more to the back.
Got Vader out of his box today
It really is an amazing figure. Love the detail. Put him back in the box for now, he can't fit in my display with his stand and I don't want to risk anything.
Probe Droid stand is crap just like everyone has pointed out already. Didn't bother with the sound or the lights.
A quick visit in the display cabinet, very un-futzed...
Any idea how to access the voice stuff if you strip the body screw?
Because whoever designed this should face charges for a war crime.
Redid the chest piece. Does this look a little closer, all?
Not bad, but honestly, I thought your originals repaints were fine. It's really hard to photograph the weathering, so it may be perfect in person. It maybe needs a bit more of the metal sheen. Trust me, I've repainted mine so many times trying to get it right that I just had to call it quits
My helmet is full on stock. Do you just mean the angle I have him at, in the pic?helmet like a little high in the back. I had the same issue. lowered the front, but raised the back too high
Well, they WERE in the trash compactor for a while.
