Just look at how crooked many of the panels on R2's dome looked throughout. And Vader's helmet had all those finger smudges that would have stood out like crazy in a modern SW movie.

In 1977 it was called the "lived in look" -- a used universe -- and it was all the rage that changed sci-fi.

Now the OCD culture wants everything clean again, no finger prints.

Surprised a separate thread hasn't been started for R1 Vader, since it's now an official collectible figure.

Anyway, it looks pretty good to me. Those gloves look much improved over the ANH figure's gloves. I'm not too crazy about the cod piece though. Looks to be too soft. Then again, perhaps they opted to make it look like that in R1 for whatever reason, haven't seen the film yet obviously. Wonder if they improved the belt also in not making it so flimsy? I'm sure they have to be aware of the ANH Vader belt fiasco.

Nice looking figure, but perfectly happy with my ANH Vader. I only need one representation of him.

The R1 does look nice but no more 1/6 scale for me anymore too much $$. I'm trying to sell my HT ANH Vader unopened if anyone is interested..................

Guys, i need some advice. Any tip or trick how to change the hand? I'm stuck. I just can't lock it in. I'm worried i will damage something. I feel like a *****, but i find it very frustrating.

Heat up the hand in some boiling water or use a hair dryer to soften the plastic. It pops on much easier.

Yeah I've found it very helpful to have one of these embossing heat guns around for stuff like that, that I picked up at a craft store. It heats stuff up a lot faster than a blow dryer and doesn't require dunking everything in hot water all the time.

Yeah, it kinda does....hopefully the cape will cover it. Amazing how they can't just recreate the iconic costume. Movie maker types always think they know better.....
