So what makes this release better than the last Deluxe Sideshow one despite being Hot Toys and not Sideshow?

Hmm, good question...

Not much different than the SSC version.
The accessories are lacking.
Sound effects?
That worked well with ED209 right?
Another easy pass!

He'll breathe with a Chinese accent?

This is better than those chumpy SSC Vaydas in so many ways. :lol

totally agree, sorry sideshow the deluxe is good figure but this one just better IMO.

Oh right, that's why it's better - it's not Sideshow...:slap

If I put the SS ANH chest box on this figure I might have a solid Vader.

I'm going to have to mix-and-match PARTS from this and the Sideshow ANH Vader. Likely use my ilforigno tunic and cape -- as much as I like this HT lined version, the material doesn't look to hang quite as well. Not sure which boots, body suit or gloves is better. HT definitely has the better mask/helmet. HT has the better belt boxes (also includes the little red light that SS forgot on their light-up belt). And the HT light-up saber (although its probably just a weak LED one).

Should be fun building the perfect Vader. Again. :slap

Looks nice, better overall look then sideshows, but also has its own set of issues, apart from the gloves it seems to be a generic non movie specific Vader

Holy hell what a perfect Vader figure. Looks like a movie still. Is that yours Wor?

Glad they have used the thin tapered sabre style. Way better than the recent SS sausage Sabres and some of the dodgy custom tube versions I've seen around.

And it lights? :Rock
LED sabre has to suck by definition. I'll take the "dodgy" CCFL sabre with even light hilt to tip than SSC Obi-Wan LED redux (and I'm sure your criticism of the custom CCFLs has nothing to do with whom is making them :lol).

Yeah, the height.. hmm.

It's funny / frustrating isn't it; they make their Predator figures under scaled when they're supposed to tower over a human, & now it's like they're just being ***holes for the fun of it, by almost matching the SSC Vayda scale. :lol

:(
Didn't you say a bunch of times how HT would never eff up the height? But now it's something you can compromise on since it's not SSC. :slap

That Vader being as tall as Sideshow ANH version, the lack of complaining on that specific detail surprises me.

I think it's such a massive 'you've got to be ****ing kidding me' that people have shaken their heads and moved past it.

I don't come in for a day and look what happens...

I have to say that the helmet and face look a lot better in these pics, not sure if it's all down to photography and lighting.
Can't really tell about the tailoring of the suit though, which was another thing that bothered me.

Still, it looks very good. Is it up for pre-order yet?

I agree. Looks better but it could just be the photography. And even though it's better than Sideshow's ANH Vader, I still see plenty wrong with it to make me pass on it. I already have one inaccurate Vader, I don't need two inaccurate Vaders. I was hoping HT would have nailed it so I could upgrade mine.

Hopefully they'll get it right with their ESB/ROTJ Vader!
