That's quite a price. And I was joking when I talked about a bare-bones release not being more than $300. This went from an instant buy to 'will probably finally do height and helmet mod on SS ANH Vadah'.

Little pricier than I expected and I have some concerns with the fig but I went ahead and ordered. Have wanted an ANH version of Darth for a while now and really like the overall package. Definitely reinforces my decision to sell off everything I don't 100% need, though.

Also wonder if the price is partly why they're not selling an Obi/Vader two-pack. Separately they can probably make a bit more off each.

It's not Sideshow AND it's Hot Toys. But yeah, since you mention it, to me Sideshow is a byword for garbage. That's not nastiness on my part, it's just how it looks to me, and unlike some start-up where you can give them the benefit of the doubt (up to a point) Sideshow has been around so long, and has had so many chances to improve, that it frankly deserves to go out of business because something is wrong with a company which is that size and with that much experience and contacts yet it doesn't even try to compete with Hot Toys on quality. It never seems to learn anything. Why is that? The only answer you ever get to that question with any company is poor management, so I imagine that's the case here, although as I don't know anything about the structure of the company I'm only guessing. Is it still run by the founder? That would be it then.

Anyway, Vader. At least he's not going to feel like a rag doll.

EDIT: just saw the photos of the DX05 in the Han thread. Man, I'd forgotten about that... just go through the paragraph above and replace the word 'Sideshow' with 'Hot Toys' and vice-versa...

I think so. HT needs a serious reality check. For $300 this thing better be either:

a sex doll
a 1:6 recreation of the actual costume that should rival the top Vader modders
based on the actual movie, ANH, and not some idealized ESB hybrid type deal

based on Hot Toys ability, this is probably their worst attempt in some time (that I am aware of). Look at the masterpiece that is their BD Robocop. That's attention to detail! What the hell happened here?

This is not the figure I imagined back when people were dreaming for HT to make SW. I am not impressed with any of the SW protos thus far. It's almost a complete fail at this price and point.

Being specific here, ANH Vader has red tinted eyes and his mask is beat to hell...it is a important feature and expected from HT. The size of the figure is just mind blowing in a bad way. The gloves are hideous..

It just all looks so shockingly wrong.

It's pretty much a $300 Hasblow figure.

I wouldn't go quite that far, but I just can't look at this and see $300 worth of figure, not by a long way.

I assume because of the price to see it on sale at 2016's Spook lol (which by that time we will see the 2nd and hell maybe the 3rd version of Vader from Hot Toys)
