If you add up Obi, Luke, leia and 2 droids to what they already have for pre-order it'll cost you over $3000 + shipping charges to get this entire line of HT 1/6 scale Star Wars. That's just killing us and this hobby.

Only now at the end do you understand...

Oh, jeez, man. So now SSC is once again the 'bad guy' for being a distributor. It would be $300.00 if you bought it directly from HT at the dock. Get real!

There are fixes available to get rid of that decolourization (should it occur), so I'm not concerned.

I'll be curious to see if this is the case with an icon like Vader. I'd like to think SSC and HT learned their lesson with overproducing figures from this year's Spook, but we'll see.

Of course they're making a profit. It's dumb to think otherwise.

This is about what I realistically expected this figure to cost. Not sure I'm understanding the outrage honestly. It's expensive yes, but it's also Vader who's one of the most popular villains of all time. Plus this has quite a bit integrated making it more (light up features and sound). Add in the interrogation droid and I can see the price. It's not out of line with Hot Toys standard pricing.

Funny how Sideshow gave us more for less.

Well, yeah, they're making a profit, but no more so than other distributors (BBTS, say). They're not "greedy" for taking their cut. Just the price of doing business.

Yep, Mark XLIII is $340.00 and couldn't be less iconic. I guess some of the outrage is the price relative to the accuracy, but a lot of that I'm betting is LFL meddling and revisionism. It's very early yet, though. I'm not going to worry about details at this point.

That was pre-Disney, though. I bet the license went up a lot and no doubt HT is putting the screws to collectors a bit due to the franchise, too. I wouldn't say it's outrageous, comparing it to other $300.00 figures (and keeping in mind Tamashii MSRP'd humble 3PO at $400.00).

Not really. An unmasked head sculpt and a light up base.

That's not entirely accurate. You also got esentially a second helmet and light up display for that helmet. It also had detailing for the interior of the second face mask.

Based on part out prices, head sculpts are where most of the value is, so an extra head and most of an extra head is a significant add-on.

I wonder how much of that is still around? I wonder if Disney holds this stuff as tightly as LFL used to?

I don't have a Vader yet in my collection and the SSC Vader is $249, and this one is $299 and realistically there is a difference between HT quality and SSC quality so I might as well go here. The prices on the HT SW figures is just going to keep going up.

No EX this time?

This is weird because their FB reveal had a shadowed droid which I figured would be the Ex.

And this is the #1 reason why HT/SSC charges this much. No offense to you, the way I see it, it's your $$$.

The whole "justifying the insane price" just because it's HT's is what's really driving prices up.

No rocket science here. If I was HT and if I knew guys that think this way exist, I'd charge $350 for this no problem.

Having said that, PASS. Too expensive.

Sure prices have gone up and I am sure HT and SSC are getting a nice profit but you also gotta remember

We are all essentially getting screwed by the Mouse. It's what Disney does or have you not been to Disney lately and paid 10 bucks for a plain hot dog on a bun

It's the Happiest place on earth because all the execs and shareholders are laughing and dancing down the street because of all the money we are paying for everything they own from Marvel to Star Wars and whatever else they have a hand in. Record profitsmthis year and no signs of slowing

Some other HT releases have insane prices and are not Disney.

They know people will buy man, it's really simple if you think about it. Much like Nike, some people go crazy (and I believe, personally, that there's no uglier shoe brand in the face of the earth) but there's millions that think differently. Power of the brand, it's all.

$7.50 and you get a bag of chips but I get what you're saying :lol At most those Hot Dogs should be a $1.25. Honestly though I think this is HT charging what they can because they can. I'm sure this will look like a deal in a year or so when the next eventual Vader hits.

And a light up chest box. They 1-Up'd Hot Toys.

Hmmm...I only want one Vader in my collection maybe I'll give SSC's version a second look.
