I'm not a Vader expert nor he is my main focus in my collection, though I own too many Vader items already. I don't think HT Vader needs to have an asymmetrical helmet to be good. The whole figure is missing something.

Anyway for people who didn't know that Vader helmet was asymmetrical a very nice comparison shot:

BTW the OT Vader helmet was also not entirely black either ;)

I've really never had a problem with the height because I think Lucas always envisioned him to be that way but perhaps was unable to find an actor to portray his proper scale. Also so many photos show different heights to scale due to some actors sometimes being heightened from standing on boxes for certain shots.

Those two points contradict each other (making him super tall and while also heightening other actors). The film makers took extensive steps in each of the three original movies to make sure Vader did not tower above everyone else to a significant degree. Yes, boxes to make other characters taller, angles to give the apearance that Vader was the same height, even helmeted, as other characters, etc.

His menace was almost entirely conveyed in his performance - actions, silence, speech, breathing.

I recall in ROTJ when Luke turns himself in on Endor and steps off the elevator to meet Vader......thinking dayum Vader looks huge (almost matching toy scale)

Yea but the scene I remeber is Luke walking off the elevator to meet Vader and it's a full body shot of the two side by side......no gimmicks in that scene to hide the size difference.......truly looked like a father and child :lol

Which is why I said the filmmakers' intentions weren't to show Vader as a giant, even if Prowse was in fact much taller than the other actors. Many steps and pains were taken to bring heights closer in line in almost every scene.

I have a lot of great Vader scenes from all three movies captured here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/pixelpiper/with/11911836734/

I always thought Luke was as tall as Vader's silver/or gunmetal nose, Fett was at his eyes and Han and Lando were at Vader's forehead.

I'm pretty sure in Empire strikes back there's a shot of General Veers talking to Vader right before he goes to Hoth and he looks just as tall and imposing as Vader, if not more so.

Haven't seen many complaints about it, but is anyone else bothered (and/or creeped out) by the skinny, deformed looking fingers on this thing? I'm fine with the idea of separate pieces, but it would have been nice if they actually sculpted the hands to look like they were wearing the same gloves!

Looks here like he's wearing Dexter's serial killer gloves instead or something.
