They want your money. They want you to buy mostly (or only) Hot Toys. Make your choices.
Solid yes you have a point there but just for arguments sake.. lets say based on the number of people who agree that the price is way to high and are opting to pass vs the people who have shown willingness to pay. Id estimate that the people willing to buy it is at around 25%.
25% out of a 100% "who initially had interest before the relaization of the price hike", would give HT a profit of $8999.75.
Imagine if they priced it at $169.99 which got the remaining 75% who initially had interest back onboard. It would give HT a profit of $16999.
Thats double the profit. Look at every board, FB comment and you can clearly see how many people opted to bow out.
If anyone one is to argue about economics and how HT stands to gain more by increasing the price, consider the current economic trends. The more appealing the price is the more likely your going to get consumer interest. Hell why do you think Blurays arent selling as much as DVD's or direct dowload via Itunes, simply put the price.
Its not like people are responding resentfully for the price, its just that people really wish HT would reconsider thier pricing guideline for this particular item.
So far from what ive seen, everyone expects the Iron Monger or the Batmobile to be at a high price, simply based on work involved or the scale of those particular figure. Most of these people are like "man this is gonna be expensive but i can see why".
With regards to the Gantry its, 4 arm pieces (2 of which are identical)and a stand. Based on the comparison to large sized figures or even non figures it just doesnt feel quite right at that price.
Im sure if the price had been lower. people would have been more than willing to squeeze this one into thier pre existing orders. I know I would have and several others.
Oh well in the end this item still goes as a pass for me. As much as i want it, i cant justify paying the set price as it is now.
