You guys think someone important at Hot Toys actually reads all our topics/posts about their figures? I don't recall them ever mentioning these forums before, but if I remember correctly... They at least went back and tried to improve several headsculpts before release due to fans being unhappy.

HT is definitely aware of our little community. Last year their store Toy Hunters was taking a survey asking which message boards fans used the most.

Well, yes, in theory that is exactly as it should be, they should be larger than life and have massively developed pecs and delts' but with tiny waists...

...and every single man jack of them would have to be a totally separate and fully custom sculpt, that you could only ever use for that one single figure. That would be business suicide. The cost of producing a custom, disposable, one shot body every time - which would not be suitable for any thing else - for each and every single new figure made/planned, would push production costs (and so therefore retail costs) to a ridiculous level that only people with names like Jagger, Trump, Branson and Getty would be able to afford.

So there is no choice but to introduce workable compromises and select the best body you have to fit the figure you are making. It is not perfect but it is as good as we can realistically expect, really.

When compromising on a superhero figure, bigger muscles>smaller muscles.

Oh I quite agree. That's why they are superheroes, it is the enormous and physically impossible stature and musculature that makes them beyond impressive. That's certainly the way I have always drawn them.

They are not meant to look like us mere mortals...let down by human limitations and the fact that they are being played in a film by the aforementioned mere mortals :lol

What can you do?

I cant see Hot Toys bothering with fixing the sculpt tbh, they'll just take on board the comments and rectify things with their next Thor figure which will probably be only 18 months away once this one is released anyway

sad but true :(

Oh well, I have plenty of other figures I am interested in so it's not always a bad thing when HT misses the mark on a head sculpt. Makes it easier to pass and fund other things...

I want to like this figure but that headsculpt.....I will have to wait to see some in hand pics before I decide.

Noticed they took the full reveal off their main page/wall. Maybe it had something to do with all the negative comments. (Its still in their Photo section though.)

Hope they're planning on making changes.

Trying to find out if you can slip these over a set of TT arms and if they will bend.

Dude at that price just buy a pair and let the rest of know how it went. :D

IMO, they look kinda..."Freddy Mercury", if you know what I'm saying. But hey to each his own. Good luck if you decide to purchase.

Yeah. I know what you mean but if that was the case the bicep and deltoid area would be as thin as the forearm and wrist. I bought some. Should be here in 8 to 12 weeks. I'll let you know how it goes.

If they are what I'm hoping they will be, they will mold and form to the existing arms and bulk them out.

One of the problem this figure has is the head is too small. Because of that, it makes it look like a pin headed Thor and the long neck doesn't help it too.

I wished HT gave the head sculpt assignment to the sculptor of Loki's head (Lee So Young) instead. :slap

Maybe someone should email HT regarding thor hs,if i remember, someone over the hawkeye thread did try to email ht about adding a second costume and ht respond,at least ht knows :D i'm to lazy to email them btw

The hs was acceptable until they revealed Loki.

And time and again, with CR Supes and Captain Jack, they have proven that they can achieve 1 point shy of perfection.

Hot Toys worst enemy is themselves, really.
