Prometheus is probable one of the Best scifi movie we got in years but its a mess made of the different scripts and on set last minute ideas.

Ive read both released scripts and they are far more satifying than the final movie, they are very close to the movie but the devil is in the details they feel less dumb or rushed the ideas and concepts were awesome (the way engineers see, the different creatures, the more mature holloway...).

To me Scott managed to make every bad choices possible scriptwise when it came to shooting (thank gods he did not go with the egyptian take on the engineers with their pyramids and djellabas or the obvious and almost embarassing 2001 ripoffs) BUT he's Still one of the master when it comes to direct and production design.

If you like Prometheus in some way but were disapointed nonetheless i advise you to read both scripts by spaith and lindelof both are great reads they Will help you make sense of the supposed "mysteries" of the movie ( wich are actually left overs from the scripts, Scott removed on purpose key dialogs to make it more mysterious ohh haaa and set up the sequel).

And yes you must buy the bluray just for the making of FURIOUS GODS wich is great :)

I never understood the hate for this movie. To me, it was very enjoyable and way better than a lot of crap I watched last year!

Kudos to Scott for a visually stunning film.... Bring on the sequel!

I think the ending was great, setting up the bizarre next tale. I do feel that the theatrical cut of the final battle is anticlimactic though. Having the deleted scene integrated takes care of that. Hopefully eventually

I feel the same way about Alien too though. I love the egg pod sequence in the extended.
My favourite part of the film

End fight scene definitely should not have been cut.

Sent from the Monolith.

I think a lot of people who hate it didn't even like Alien and the scope of this film goes over their head. Calling the ending weak is retarded, if anything I was depressed that we would have to wait a while to see the sequel and find out what the Engineer homeworld is.

:exactly: I couldn't agree more with the both of you. I'm hoping the sequel will shed a little more light as well with the Engineers and their intention on wanting to destroy us. Hopefully our new born xeno gets some more exposure as well even though he was left behind . . haha

Well this was designed as a prequel trilogy, so we won't see the Xenos were used to until movie 3 I guess.

I assumed that, but it would be awesome to see the last few shots of when it was born at the end, and few more of it exploring its new territory. And then a quick cut to Shaw & David travelling in the ship.

Similar to how the BTTF franchise would start each sequel

Yeah I know exactly what you mean. There was concept art of the Deacon exploring the wasteland, shame it wasn't shot.

I'm sure the Deacon will be touched on in the sequel, maybe he snaked on board the 2nd Juggernaut when Shaw and David left just like in Aliens.

:panic::pray: that would be a nice little nod I think, I have to check out that concept art.

What would be amazing is if they released an Engineer DX with a Deacon as an accessory . . . I think that is asking for a little too much though :dunno

You will see the Xeno's in the third movie at the very very end. You will see it coming off a operating table take one step and say...."NOOOOOoooooooooo"!!!!!

This is the picture in question, it was in the Prometheus artbook.

Thanks! What a great shot, I actually have the same book, but it's sealed and packed away haven't had the opportunity to unpack a lot of things. :slap

When I got it for Christmas, that and a lot of things I own got packed and put into storage due to some renovations taking place at home. I should unpack it and look through it one of these days

Yea in the storyboard Deacon walks out to the downed Jockey ship, as Shaw and David fly away like a shooting star in the sky while he looks up at it.

Go chase Mama in another ship :)

Crazy how this movie sucked so bad in the end.

You can't just say it sucked. You have to say why you think it sucks. I think the movie is flawed. Changing the planet, the effects of the ooze, and new alien creation. The Space Jockey as Engineer was the biggest surprise. But still Prometheus is the third best Alien movie behind Aliens and Alien. Prometheus is a beautiful movie to look at too. The sequel has a lot of explaining to do.

I have both scripts saved and will read them when I get the Blu-ray. I was going to get it for Christmas but I don't have a 3D TV. I was going to get Sony's Playstation 3D Display but even at $100, the fact that it's guaranteed to break turned me off.

Read the original draft for Prometheus, definitely fills a lot of holes and even explains how humans evolved.

I think it way too easy to dismiss those who had trouble with the movie like that especially the ALIEN and yurtoodumbtogetit arguments. Of course i'm not talking about the haters or average joes who need a movie to go BOOM BOOM BOOM every 10 minutes ^^
I've had two disappointment with the movie.

First, it was basically a remake of ALIEN bigger and louder, using a lot of the ALIEN original script unused ideas and concepts.
But i'm biased because they are great ideas for the ALIEN universe that I've known for years so they were not fresh for me but probably for someone who never read them.

Then the Engineer angle was not as well used as in the scripts where its pretty smart especially the whole terraformation tech wich is one of the main drive for for Weyland corp, even if i definitely like Weylands quest for eternity wich gives the movie a neat religious/mythological theme but both motivations could have been used making the movie even smarter.

But yeah even if the movie has its flaws its doesnt deserve to be hated :)
