Re: Article: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures

That scene always makes me laugh. The positioning of Robocops hand is actually in an impossible position to where his arm is. His arm would have to be twice as long to get the hand into that position lol.

me too.

If SS was shipping to the UK again would it make it a easier buy to just do Flexpay? Or would you still feel the same about it? Its lame that there isn't any other alternative. If SS stopped doing Flexpay I would be out of this hobby so fast its not even funny. Just wouldn't be able to afford this hobby.

I think as do still ship to the UK, I'm not sure if we are able to use flexpay though. The fact that its coming from the USA though would make customs very expensive on a set like this and for me that's really off putting.

:rotfl :D

Well, I'm sure we're all here because we love RoboCop and I for one don't want to subscribe to this idea that we're being bilked by Peter Weller if we've no actual evidence of that. YMMV. Stay out of chubble :)

To be honest he doesn't do too much anymore, if he can get some extra cash from his likeness I imagine he would do, just like most people would. Shame we are the ones wanting the likeness enough to pay for it.

Re: Article: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures

Actually he's got a pretty busy career going as a TV director these days. Maybe not A-list movie star money, but nothing to sneeze at.

Re: Article: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures

I find it odd he'd expect so much for his likeness. Is this actually confirmed?
I say that because Weller is such a Robocop '87 nerd himself. You can tell when he talks about the movie that it probably is his
best movie experience (and probably worst as a result of the cumbersome suit). But he made that character, it will forever be his.
And I'm surprised he wouldn't be more willing to impart his likeness on a great honour to his iconic role.
And btw, Weller is also a very bright man and is actually a professor of history besides being in the entertainment business.

Re: Article: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures

It wasn't always that way. For many years he was not thrilled about his experience with RoboCop. As I understand it, he's only come around in recent years to the point where he seems to like the movie now. I saw him at a screening of Buckaroo Banzai last year and he talked a little about his complicated relationship with RoboCop in the Q&A afterward.

So maybe it isn't a question of him trying to get a certain amount of money for his likeness ... but rather not wanting to give his permission to market a thing he wasn't proud of before.

But again, until we hear it from his mouth, it's all just idle speculation.

Re: Article: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures

It doesn't bother me one bit if PW played a little hardball. More power to him. I would be upset if he just signed away his likeness rights.

This isn't a question of innocence or guilt. It's just doing business. And as our favorite corporate scumbag **** Jones says, "Good business is where you find it."

PW isn't just synonymous with RoboCop, he IS RoboCop, one of our favorite characters from one of our favorite movies. I certainly wouldn't pay $300 for BurkeCop.

Re: Article: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures

What's funny about this is that the release date is already being guessed, moved, guessed again by everyone. ToyHQ had a release month of August next year, they now have none again. This is definitely a 2016 release at the earliest, I will be pleasantly surprised otherwise.

Re: Article: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures

I Flexed it through Sideshow and they've got the last payment listed as July of 2015. They tend to be pretty accurate with their dates (at least until the inevitable production delays start hitting), so I no reason to doubt that HT told them they currently believe this will hit stateside in July. Now, whether it actually does, of course, is a whole separate matter.

EDIT: I don't think this one will be quite as delayed as the clean Robo since they've hopefully (fingers crossed) worked out the production kinks with the first release.

Re: Article: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures

Shopafx has this for $405.00 Lowest price I've seen so far.

They also said that the first release would be out in August and we are in Oct. just getting them through SS, this could be a new beast that doesn't just get put out a assembly line I'm guessing it needs more care for it to come out the way it does, I'll let ya know when I get the regular one next week, but I feel like they may have done a more hands on approach to this figure, and expect BD to come out same time next year around maybe Nov.

Re: Article: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures

This will be out earlier maybe May or April. Everything is already done for this figure. Just missing head sculpt.

Re: Article: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures

If the "sour" purchase is made most likely the BD version.

You are better off, you get 2 Wellers, with Robo you just get Robo, do you want the iconic cop from the middle of the film or the cop from the start and end of the film.

Living closer to China than us in the states here you would think that it would be easier to find someone to send it to you guys and for cheaper guess not.

Re: Article: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures

Battle damaged for me. I held off the regular version to get 1 iconic representation of Robocop and I think the bd version is that plus you get murphy also which is an added bonus.

Re: Article: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures

Here's how I personally justified it.

A - pay $300 for Damaged Robo by himself?
B - pay $220 for Damaged Robo and $220 for Murphy?

I went with B. I always wanted an Alex Murphy figure but never thought they'd make one. This surprise release a few weeks ago was the most exciting this hobby has been in a while. Option B is a no brainer. The $440 price tag looks and feels bad, but if Hot Toys had released Damaged Murph for $220 and Alex Murphy for $220, I'd have snagged them even quicker without hesitation.
