Re: Article: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures

Hmm.. I disagree.

Think back to DX08. Sure - it was a few years ago, but yeah.

Apart from it likely being one of the truly expensive likenesses to negotiate, Nicholson wasn't even interested in any of that stuff till the eleventh hour anyway, so it was even more an achievement on HT' part.

Factor that in with the final price of the released set - pretty reasonable, all things considered. I got mine early for retail - $295 AUD with free shipping. They could've added another $50 to the price & it still wouldn't have been that bad. Pretty damn good DX set.

Then - this set. You way up the various factors (point in time / inflation / actor's likeness / R&D etc) & it's a disgrace.

Yep.

Thing is only Hot Toys knows for sure, unless someone has a inside man or woman to know for sure. And I doubt they release their finances publicly

Both are $300. It would appear that Regular version has the better value based on its contents. With the BD versions basically your paying $300 for HEAD!!

Oh wait People People no.....

Re: Article: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures

RoboCop is my second favorite character of all time, only after batman and I have trouble spending £350 on this set, sure its beautiful and I can't imagine it being bettered, but still, £350 is a lot.

Re: Article: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures

Have a feeling I posted in entirely the wrong thread the other day (not surprising given the conversation currently jumps back and forth on these two Robo threads) but this is £310 at ToyHQ (UK). Not a bad price if you ask me, for the two.

Re: Article: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures

I'm really excited about these two but I'll likely end up with the bd Robo to cut down on cost. I've actually started a custom Melting Emil to go along with him. I don't want to derail things but you guys can check out a video of the head sculpt here.

Re: Article: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures

Do we actually know that though? :)

Well, it's not like we've been inundated with Weller RoboCop figures over the last 25 years. There might be something to that.

The price comes down to A) RoboCop, B) Battle Damage, C) an actual Weller face and I guess D) Hot Toys. Percentages are up to you.

Were high-resolution images ever posted of this guy?

Not to mention neca have never been able to secure the rights to his likeness, having to go with a generic mouth area.

That's a much better price, but the idea of paying in full or with a deposit puts me off. I've done that at OSB before and had to wait months after everyone on eBay a got there's in stock not to mention forbidden planet. Then there's what happened to mothers basement. I'm not saying it'll happen again at toyhq, but it does make me that little bit more cautious.

Totally understand mate. I pre-ordered when the price of entry was only £50. At least one way or another I'll get the thing and not have any hidden fees to worry about. I don't think a single one of us will be seeing it before this time next year at the very earliest, most likely 2016. By which time I'll have forgotten I ordered it at all.

Agreed. I paid a deposit for the chair version of Robocop at a UK site and my reward is having to wait till next year to get the thing. **** that.

If SS was shipping to the UK again would it make it a easier buy to just do Flexpay? Or would you still feel the same about it? Its lame that there isn't any other alternative. If SS stopped doing Flexpay I would be out of this hobby so fast its not even funny. Just wouldn't be able to afford this hobby.

No problem! Let me upload them for you.

That scene always makes me laugh. The positioning of Robocops hand is actually in an impossible position to where his arm is. His arm would have to be twice as long to get the hand into that position lol.

After just seeing the Feb 2014 release date for that, I'm concerned that I just made a mistake ordering this from within the UK. *****.

What really sells it is the officer's reaction. I don't know if it's the lighting or a trick of the eye, but his face appears to turn beet red in that gif. We almost can hear him gulp. :lol

$519 for a set that costs $440 through Sideshow? Is that a good price for you guys outside of NA?

It depends on how much the shipping is with sideshow. If the shipping is 50 - 60 dollars which it probably more then likely will be due to the size of the package then its a good enough deal as its only 20 more then that. At the moment though I would be looking at sideshow to get it as the shipping may be less.
