Vader's appearance will likely be an epic fail......so many ideas thoughts how he "should be" that anything else will likely result in critisim.

Personally, I'm not holding out for much screen time so anything different will be fine in my book....melo, kick ass, cool etc.

It's been confirmed he has spoken lines but that could just be a few tag lines at the end.

The real proof will be in the trailer that plays with "Dr Strange" (so in a few weeks) - if that doesn't show a hint of Vader in action, then it probably is just a cameo; walk in, say a few lines, and fade out.

I actually hope that's all it is. Vader shouldn't be cooler in a move that has little to do with him, than he is in a move that he's the main villain of (ANH), just for cheap fan service.

I absolutely hope Vader's scene(s) will be cool and memorable, but to be more in service to the original trilogy, making it cooler. I want the new film to be completely about the new characters.

Hopefully he can do one of his catch phrases and the peace out.

End of RO - Vader walks in, audience goes nuts, he looks out at the looming Death Star (in James Earl Jones voice) "The stolen plans may be out there now, but I'm sure the Death Star will be just fine, I can sense it." Turns to stare out at star field - "I just hope what I have to do now doesn't inspire some emo fanboy in the future... (turns to audience, camera suddenly zooms in on him) especially ones who might be related to me....." Cut to SW fanfare.

It would just tie everything together, old and new - a bridge to ANH, a personal connection to TFA.

How did it spin from a few lines to kick boxer Vader...love the dedication and enthusiasm for the franchise but folks building up for a potential letdown. :lol.

End of Rogue One:

The hero's escape ship is being torn apart from weapons fire. But Erso manages to transmit the last crucial piece of the Death Star plans just before her ship EXPLODES!

Final shot -- Vader's only scene:

Vader storms into a massive Destroyer hangar on the Death Star, addresses a legion of Stormtroopers:

Vader: "I'll get them myself. Come with me."

Troopers follow Vader aboard his Star Destroyer.

END CRAWL

**fanboys in audience; collectively: That's it????

:exactly:

Yeah, like with Jabba, attempts to insert newly produced "first appearance" cameos in earlier films usually underwhelm (done for trailer moments, not lasting dramatic effect.) The classic intros to characters like Jabba and Vader I guess will always stand, but you can't help but feel the new material in some ways can spoil it. And brings up yet another question that dogged the years after the PT - "when you watch ANH, should you watch its prequel RO before it?"

It's kind of hubris to feel like you have the right to insert a major subplot involving Vader that precedes the intro/screen experience of one of the most iconic of all screen villains. There's obvious commercial reasons for it (they've done it with everyone down to Hannibal Lecter) but this flows right into ANH - not a distant prequel.

It's one thing to do a movie that directly precedes (as in occurs in the same week) one of the most iconic films in history, it's another to begin messing around with one of that film's most iconic characters in any significant way.

Haha! I love this.

In all seriousness something like that is all I'm expecting.

After the plans are stolen and the Imperial forces regroup, Vader is called upon to find the stolen plans. Before Vader leaves, he briefs them. I think these two screen grabs of Krennic and Vader are from the same scene, probably just before Krennic is choked to death, after all he's on the Death Star, but isn't in ANH...

And Tarkin will take over the DS after Krennic failure. Makes sense. However i'm not so sure about the novel Tarkin, he was around DS way before it was built.

The new trailer is online. Just watched it on facebook "Hollywood firsts"

Vader has his sabre out.
I just want him to kick some butt if he's in action like he did in season two of rebels. He needs to be basically unstoppable.

No, it isn't. That's just the worst fan made sw trailer you have just watched.

That would be awesome! And would mean that at some point Vader gets a little messed up in battle.

Yeah I saw this too and it was so obviously fan made. Just reusing all the clips and audio from all the previous trailers and one hilariously ****** looking Darth Vader bit.

:rotfl

Disney should have saved some money and just got a few fans to make RO and people wouldn't even have noticed.

This thread is a real eye opener. You'd think people who are willing to spend hundreds on action figures would be at least slightly clued in to the source material.

His role should be like Hannibal Lecter's in SILENCE OF THE LAMBS.

Three scenes of dialogue and then a final scene of just absolute madness.

Something like the rebels arrive at an Imperial base to steal the plans and are seemingly doing well until all of the sudden someone like Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker) drops to the ground with Vader's lightsaber protruding through his chest. Behind him Vader is revealed - and calls back the saber. Then all hell breaks loose. Two dozen rebels dead in a matter of minutes and the survivors literally make a run for it, while Vader follows. In the end Erso is the last survivor. Vader finally corners her inside a ship and her death occurs offscreen.

I would be ok with this. Might not be the force wrecking ball, but Vader being the hunter would be terrifying for them. Almost like a horror movie as they try to escape. That's a great idea. I think his first scene should be questioning Krennic and then force choking him before departing to retrieve the plans.
