Why would Vader ever change suits? I never even knew Vader had different suites until I started collecting. To 99% of people one Vader is the same as the next.

In legends he is constantly working on his suit to improve it's abilities. Palpatine made his suit weak and uncomfortable.

In reality - money and director's vision of Vader.

And yeah, my wife can't see the difference between ANH and ROTJ version. So as any other "not a geek" person. But that does not mean the changes are unnecessary or not interesting for the rest of the people.

Just noticed this Vader has two silver tusks.
Personally, shiny and new doesn't fit in my idea of SW. Having grungy looking kit bashed spaceships and dinged up malformed plastic armor is what makes SW different.
This Vader just looks too shiny for me.

Well he was pretty darn shiny in ESB and ROTJ. And the ships and costumes for the Empire have always looked pretty clean and shiny and new. It was really only the Rebellion forces that had all the grungy beat up stuff.

Yeah grungy and beat up doesn't suit the empire of an entire galaxy... My only gripe is the robes should be outside the armor. Even Rebels has it right. But I can just fix it myself no big deal. Everything else looks spectacular. They fixed the gloves, and this is the first retail Vader to look like a guy in a suit. And best of all, no crappy electronics to drive the price up.

"Ugh I hated Rogue One!"
"Why, man?"
"The tusks were too shiny."
"On what?"
"You'll never understand. This movie blows."

Thats how I fee about Vader and Fett. I know there are differences between movies but I don't care. Vader is Vader and Fett is Fett.

I haven't passed any judgment on Rogue One, I'm looking forward to seeing it.
If I'm going to spend $250 on my one and only 1/6 Darth Vader, I want it to look like my ideal version of that character, and for me that's Hot Toys' ANH Vader.

To me this doesn't have any character, it's not 'ultimate Vader' it's 'generic Vader and much too ROTS for me. I would like a shiny Vader, but that would have to be an ESB version.

Cool, but I've already got their first Vader, and this doesn't look like it's much of an improvement, beyond the look of the gloves.

Maybe, but to me this still represents the Vader of the OT better than any other Vader figure we've seen (and certainly more than the skinny and perfectly symmetrical ROTS Vader). Although I agree I would have rather this just been an ESB Vader instead.

I think it looks great.

I may have to look for this helmet and boots. If I had no Vader, this would be my pick, no doubt.

As I mentioned in the ANH Vader thread, the figure looks pretty good to me. Those gloves look much improved over the ANH figure's gloves. I'm not too crazy about the cod piece though. Looks to be too soft. Then again, perhaps they opted to make it look like that in R1 for whatever reason, haven't seen the film yet obviously. It's R1 Vader, so it doesn't make sense to compare him to the overall OT Vader. As everyone knows even with the OT, each film has little nuances to his suit. Wonder if they improved the belt also in not making it so flimsy? I'm sure they have to be aware of the ANH Vader belt fiasco.

Nice looking figure, but perfectly happy with my ANH Vader. I only need one representation of him.

It would appear that the main differences are the use of multiple molded hands and a new codpiece;they also apparently ditched the sound function(which most of us don't bother to use). The backdrop would appear to be the price "make-up"feature...PS

This looks amazing. Not sure what to do yet as I already have the ANH version. Nice upgrades and no sound but no saber or light up saber arm.
