New photos! It improved a lot but still not feeling it. I mean something is definitely off. It is well made, beautifully crafted but the head sculpt is just not that good. I think with lots of people it gets a pass because it looks so realistic.
Yeesh. It's almost like his face is too big for his head.

Lightened the images to better show the hair against the background. What a stunning piece!

Here is a comparison. It looks close but not feeling it. I was considering to buy this after the new photos shown up but this is the situation when the statue features are there but somehow something is off. The craftmanship is beautifull but I think the empty expression killing the statue for me.

Be careful with comparisons like that. The focal length and lens type are completely different on those photos so it will never compare favourably. I did a similar comparison with a screencap from the video where the camera was further away and the proportions of everything match up much better. I will be amazed if anything better than this ever comes along.

I definitely see improvements compared to the photo shown in May.
I don't know...It's possible, but I'm still putting my money down on lighting, camera filters, and shadows. If you compare the pics on JND's site for the pre-order, you'll notice that all photos are more washed out/cooler toned compared to the new photos. It's easiest to see when you compare the suit colors.

I think the warmer colors bring more life and warmth into his face and reducing shadows help bring CR into focus better, combined with the better styled hair of the production piece.

In any case, it's brilliant so we can leave it at that :duff

Sure, it's a great digital sculpt but what I've found is that it's extremely rare to find an artist who can make a physical version of their digital sculpt look as good as what JND have done with theirs. The finish quality on the JND skin painting alone is better than I've seen on 1:1 life-size Silicone sculpts. We're all looking for perfection, but must also acknowledge the fact that it's almost impossible to get anything as perfect as we want, so I'll gladly go with an overall superb high quality piece like what is on offer here from JND. As marker2037 says, it's like comparing apples to oranges. There are some phenomenal digital sculpts of lots of characters, but if they remain in the computer, it doesn't really do anything for my collection display! LOL

Looks fantastic to me! Paid my balance and applied my measly amount of RPs to help some since I don't think I'll be ordering direct from JND again. Don't really care about custom sculpts. That one above is good but looks sleepy. The one we saw earlier in the thread painted by 357partment looked too beautified. Don't care for the Art Department sculpts, especially the not so great paint apps they have. I like the Unleashed Viper sculpts made for the Sideshow PFs but don't think they're any better than the JND.

I'm more than happy with what we're getting here. And even if Prime1/Blitzway make a 1/3 version, I can almost guarantee the detailing and paint apps will fall off heavily in production and not match what JND have done. The least realistic part of this appears to be Clark's hat/fedora. Doesn't have that same kind of micro sculpt detailing that the Superman suit has to look like real fabric.

Agreed re: Clark's hat. First thing I'll do when I get mine is hit it will some dull coat to take off the shine. It's supposed to be a fur felt Fedora and should not be shiny like they've got it. That's about the only thing I could find fault with costume-wise on both. (Hope they don't make Indy's Fedora shiny too)!
I do think that Clark looks amazing though.

The proto had the same issue?

Yea, will definitely have to give it a spray of matte finish. The shine is taking away from the texture the hat appears to actually have.

I don't think Indy will have that problem since the proto was matte finished unlike this where the proto had the gloss finish on it too. Just thought they'd fix it in production.

It did. Sort of surprised they didn't fix it but I guess most ppl only complain about the Superman sculpt and nothing else really on Clark Kent.
