Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

No way man. We will be arguing in here until the game comes out and well after. At this point some people have committed so much to liking it against all reason that even if it turns out to be terrible they will just be blind to it (there is a guy here that still claims Colonial Marines is a good game).

We have a lot invested in this game and when were negative, people get bent out of shape and think its a personal attack on them because you know this thread starts and stops at their convince....

Ain't that the truth. It's been negative in here for the majority of this thread's inception, and it won't stop. That is of course, MGS V has trolled us and we were all wrong but that is highly unlikely.

Funny thing is, this Slug guy came in and sprinkled his wisdom on us on how negative we are and he'll probably wait another 9 months to post again :lol

Its truly annoying. I understand people have a lot of hobbies and might not spend all their time in this thread but it doesn't mean we have to have the same conversation over and over again just because they were not here last time. If only there was some sort of archive that kept all of the post for people to read that missed out on the last conversations.....:thud:

:exactly:

Poor timing, and I was thinking this thread might of been moving towards the light a little over the last few days with discussions not involving our venom toward the game. :rotfl

Anyway, you don't have much to talk about a game when there isn't any new material released to discuss. Plus, most of the things we've talked about recently has been all of Kojima's missteps and not even the game.

But, this guy wouldn't know about any of that since he's never here... so yeah.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Not to prolong the anger here, but I do think that, at times, the people that go 'I hate Kojima. I hate MGSV' do get a bit obnoxious.

And I say that as someone who gets more and more annoyed with Kojima's arrogance as time passes. It's just not cool to call others who might still like games you don't "noobs" or "not true fans" or whatever word you can find to insult them with.

Same likewise, with people who like the games. People who dislike MGSV are allowed to express that, and people who like it. Jumping on one another for different tastes is just downright silly, and depending on the way in which it is done, narcissistic - if we want to be really blunt.

So don't do it please. :p

(P.S. I didn't hate Raiden. I actually liked him, but I do admit that I liked Snake more in MGS2. He sort of felt like a guardian angel back then, rofl. Especially in the Arsenal Gear: Jejunum and Ascending Colon part where we get the 'I need scissors! 61!' codec calls. Those freaked me out. Then finally, Snake appeared and I was like "phew. Glad that **** is over." )

Your post count doesn't make you a more valuable member. I never post in this thread anymore and that doesn't make me less valuable than you.
Everybody has the right to voice their opinion either you agree or not. But stop jumping on everyone's throat all the time :peace

Did you guys just miss Slug's "jumping at everyone's throats"? Oh no... right, that only applies to some of us here. We're the obnoxious ones and have to be careful of what say, enough to self-censor our speech to not upset anyone - because, that's the only way for a free discussion to take place...

Let me ask you this: who is on the attack right now, and who is being defensive?

It will be interesting to see how this all turns out when the game ships. But I have a feeling this game might actually be as hollow as it looks and its not some more Kojima madness. Depending on release date I probably wont get to play it when it comes out right away anyway.

It was very civil in here until his brain fart.

Yeah unless the collector's edition comes with something extraordinary I might wait for reviews. I just think all this extra gadgetry and tagging is just going to make the game too easy. The last difficult MGS on Extreme mode was probably MGS2, for me anyway.

I pretty much guarantee that statue he teased on twitter is for the Special Edition.

I will be gone summer next year and my poor wife will be handeling all of my toy and game preorders for that time period:lol

Oh god I forgot about that ugly thing :rotfl:thud:

At least the MGR lamp was a neat gimmick, the V statue looked like it was sculpted out of cat turds.

Well its probably pretty early on. But has there really been a high quality statue from a game special edition that didn't have a crazy price tag?

I have always dreamed of Kotobukiya doing MGS stuff...

:drool I wish they would start doing 1/6 statue of MGS.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Wait so which Metal Gear games haven’t you played?

MGS2 might be the roughest for you, don’t let it make you hate the series. 3 and 4 are awesome in my opinion. Stay away from the psp games if you’re looking for true Metal Gear experience. You can just watch the cutscenes on Peace Walker on youtube.

Because I am an Idiot I missed MGS2 3 and of course 4 because I didn't play the others :( oh don't worry thats not gonna happen, only thing I hate form this series is Ocelot the rest is perfect, I'm tired of games that are not a challenge I'm ready to die and replay as much as I have too :lol

Since I have the HD collection I'll play Peace Walker too, is Portable Ops any good? I don't wanna miss any story details

BTW anyone already hate/dislike MGSV? ok I know some do, but is it the story? gameplay? or is it the Snake/Big Boss thing?

I kinda dig Portable Ops's story more than Peace Wlaker, but it's all personal preference. I just love the exchange between Snake and Cunninghame before they fought and the Jonathan recruit scene.

MPO deserves more credit to MGS than PW, at least MPO had a somewhat coherent story and actually moved the story forward unlike PW.

And in a nut shell, we are disappointed with MGS V because the story seems like it's going even further down the japanesey hokey rabbit hole that PW had, the technology level should not be where it is in the 70s and 80s even for MGS, and we hate the milking and poor writing and direction of Big Boss's character.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I found the story for Portable Ops to be much more coherent than Peace Walker's. At least it didn't introduce advance tech into the Big Boss timeline.

:goodpost:

Metal Gear RAXA was dumb, but it felt like a logical offshoot from the Shagohod. I don't know how we go from the Shagohod in 1964 to 1974 we have a REX ripoff :dunno

Go back and read just about any page on this thread and you will see.

There were plenty of moments that broke my suspension of disbelief in Peace Walker yet in retrospect, that barely happened in MPO. Even RAXA was brilliant as a clumsy prototype Metal Gear. :lol

I would pay good money for a HD remaster of MPO and Acid2, that was a great game.
