You know what I find annoying about this entire thing? It's how Kojima never cared about his English audience, due to the horrible localizations of MGS 1 and 2. But, all of a sudden, he's deeply invested in MGS V and its voice actors. I wonder where the sudden change of heart came from.

Star appeal.

Mostly because he was wrong.

I realize that this is the Internet and anyone could post whatever, and be whatever they want in anonymity. I'm sorry, but the context of the MG games just wasn't there - I just don't see it.

And if you'd like to post a picture of your collection, there's already a thread for that.

Actually I just read it, and I apologize, understand the confusion 100%, my response to Dylan at that time, if you go back in read it, I meant to write Splinter Cell, not Metal Gear. I type so fast, and never proof read I always make a ton of spelling errors, thats why I edit almost every message after I post :slap

I see the next response to Dylan, and even Snake Plissken’s response to me, it shows everyone knew I was talking about Splinter Cell. I figured I was talking about the MG games because I played them for about 10 minutes, and decided to just youtube the thing because it felt too dated, so I figure thats what I must have meant.

I get the mix up, and I don’t appreciate the snooping to try and catch me as a “fake fan”, but I can at least admit that I understand your reason for thinking I never played any MGS game. I apologize to Frank as well, because I thought he was just making that stuff up because he didn’t agree with my views on Hayter.

If you read are arguments before that Dylan statement, you can clearly see me arguing with you about the MGS games, and it shows I played them. It was just a typo.

OHHHHHH :rotfl

Okay I can understand the mix up now, I meant the original MG games. MGS1 was my first MGS like a lot of fans, and I eventually beat the original MG games that came with MGS3 but it was a bit of a chore to do since I did it so late. I understand the mix up now.

Every MGS game, and Rising I bought on release day and beat.

I was just a baby here when I posted that, I didn’t know one little slip up of words could revoke my fan-ship at the time.

Anyway false alarm Frank, you can now respect my opinion again :lol

It must of taken a while to find that post by the way :lol

Well then i can retract the comments regarding you never playing them and the possible condescending tone of the first post, but the way the original post was worded did lead me to believe you were talking about the series in general, and not just the OG MG games. Whether that was the intention or not, hence the whole reasoning behind my recent posts earlier today.

Probably because he realised how much money the West does actually make him, and that he should probably take more interest.. considering

I’m not saying you should waste your time off os something so petty, but if you read all the pages leading up to that, you can clearly see I played every game and I was defending MGS4 and all that at the time. It was a typo, which we all know I make plenty of here.

A page before my response to Dylan this is what I wrote in response to Plissken

If you actually looked at it from a broad angle you'd see why we aren't excited over it.

Seems you keep insinuating that I am blind fanboy. Which I am haha, but I am a fanboy for a lot of different things and I always judge them honestly. To me this series does have some flaws but character designs never bothered me that much. Most of my real problems were with gameplay which I am glad they’re modernizing. Some won’t agree with me on that but I am tired of Big Boss or Solid doing awesome things in a cutscene, then when we control the character he can only do like 10% of what the last cutscene showed.

I think I was arguing with him as soon as I hit the thread :lol

Sorry If I keep bringing it up, but being accused of never playing the games hits hard after all the time invested into the series. I just hope the snooping on me ends after this, who knows what I’ll be accused of next.

Alright man. No one's out to get you, but this thread is public, and everyone's post is out in the open for everyone to see. That's why I was so taken-back by it.

But yeah, feel free to post your collection in the MGS Collectibles thread if you should desire to do so :wave.

Someone went back to page 342 to try and prove I never played a MGS game before, I do think someone is out to get me :rotfl

I’m glad I cleared that up, and sure man, I’ll take some pictures and post them later :hi5:

That's a pretty fair assessment. He recently made the remark that MGS isn't as big in the Japan as compared to the West. I just hope that this leads to some better LE packages since he's trying to kiss and make up now.

Star appeal.

That could be it, too :lol.

Guess I wasn't the only one bothered by the dialogue and delivery in this game.

I love the way this reviewer stated her opinions regarding GZ's ending. She was practically lambasted by the Internet dweebs for her views on questioning the great god, Kojima. An excerpt from the article:

https://www.ign.com/articles/2014/03/25/whats-wrong-with-metal-gear-solid-5-ground-zeroes-ending

"Rape as a plot device is easy as hell to implement."

"The bomb scene itself is pure horror. The camera lingers deliciously on Paz’s squelching intestines; her rescuers shoving their hands into her stomach as she screams in un-anaesthetised pain. When she sacrifices herself at the end, we are not left mourning her – there was not enough character development in Ground Zeroes for that – rather we are left in dumb shock at the information she imparted with her final words.

What’s the deal? What’s the point of this character’s suffering? Kojima has spoken of “maturing” the medium towards that ever elusive acceptance as ‘art’ by tackling taboo themes, but what he is essentially doing here is utilising an age-old narrative trick to give his male protagonist a purpose. There is no interest in the broader complexities of Paz herself; she is nothing but a catalyst for the hero’s quest in Ground Zeroes’ successor, The Phantom Pain. Why? Because rape as a plot device is quick and easy as hell to implement and further, it lends a sense of gravitas to a story; a sense that the writer has crossed some dangerous line and we ought to congratulate him or her for that."

So, what do you guys think about the ending? Was it well used well as a literary device to advance the storyline, or was it done purely for shock value?

I was going to read that, but then I realised Lucy wrote that.. I remember that article

NOPE :lol

I can't respect the opinion of that woman, she is crazy in love with Paz, seriously she loves Paz way too much. Me Gaspar and others talked about her opinions when the game launched, really no one agrees with her.

Anyway I don't care about Paz at all, maybe thats why I don't think all that happens in GZ is such a big deal

She really does? Personally, I never cared too much about Paz, because she was hardly given any character development in Peace Walker. Well, aside from the last 10 minutes in ZEKE, and that awful "I am Pacifica Ocean!!" one-liner :rotfl.

Her bomb "down there" was distasteful, but I'm certainly not mourning her death in the series. Goodbye... character I hardly ever knew. But, I do think it was a mistake to use her as a literary device for Big Boss's plans of revenge when he never and Miller never cared much about her, either.

Im not a prude or anything. But what they did to Paz was over the top, not the rape, or the bomb. But the fact they did everything. One shock value thing is ok. But having her raped, raped by a kid, cutting her golden locks off, then removing her ovary's and putting a bomb up there as well as a stomach. We see her stomach ripped open while she is concious with her guts coming out AND then she is blown to bits. The whole thing seems like it was made by a 40 year old man who lives in his basement and has given up hopes of ever getting a woman therefor he hates them all.

The fact that they did more makes me care less

I liked Paz a lot, she's one of my favorite female characters, but even still, Lucy's article is filled with error and bias. She was being torn apart by everyone, not because of her opinion but because what she wrote proves she didn't play some of the other games, and when called out for it, she responded to everyone saying she forgot those little details. The article she wrote was just for attention and she didn't think her argument through.
