I don't even know if this is worth a post, but here's a list (again) of the current rumors going around about MGS V :lol.

The most interesting one I saw, was that Skull Face might actually be Zero in disguise. There's a little bit of credence given to this theory, from Kojima's comment at last year's E3, about Skull Face's identity:

"I can’t say who it is. But it’s probably exactly who you think it is.”

That sounds good, but it would also mean that Zero is wearing mask over a mask :lol seems like an awful lot of trouble to fool Breaking Boss :lol

Or Big Bad? :lol honestly both sound kind of kick ass.

BTW, anyone has the link for the Nuclear trailer in 60fps? Seems I accidentally deleted it :slap and I can't find the post.

Man, it might even be Ocelot for all we know :lol. It's strange I've never seen that quote from Kojima. Going by what he said, Skull Face definitely seems to be a character that we're already familiar with.

And there was the Nuclear trailer in 60 fps??!! :gah: I loved that music video.

Yeah there was, I believe it was Ryan who posted it here.

Well, it's time for Ocelot to be a quadruple agent, the character needs to evolve, maybe throw in a plastic surgery at the end of the game that will explain why Ocelot ended up looking like Lee Van Cleef....

Maybe Zero never existed, and it was just Ocelot's proxy.

:lol

Stuff like this is why I'll keep hope alive for TPP.

If you guys download that 60fps E3 trailer, you'll notice that it's nice and all, but applying silky smooth framerates for cutscenes isn't the same as for gameplay.

I sincerely hope that the cutscenes will be in film standards of native 24p. Some games (Like Silent Hill 3 on PC) will play the cutscenes at a movie framerates while the gameplay cranks up at a rock solid 60. That's one of my major complaints with the MGS HD collection, the cutscenes feel all the more soap opera cam than the PS2 versions. I'm glad for the letterbox option, it makes the cutscenes slightly better looking.

I genuinely believe Kojima didn't reviewed or played the HD collection himself. Being a movie buff, he should have known the cutscenes were too smooth and the audio mixing was not consistent.

If Ground Zeroes is anything to go by, the cutscenes will be 60 fps. Since Kojima is using a single camera perspective, cutscenes seamlessly cut to gameplay, I can’t see him dropping the frame rates to 24fps for cutscenes which are all in-engine .

That's a pretty logical assessment, another reason why 30fps on The Order makes sense.

No problemo. What's the speed? Are there still seeders? I would have given a direct link but it's dead.
I actually didn't see :lol It downloaded super fast, like in 2 minutes or less, so I guess there are still seeders.

Thanks!
Gasper did you buy MGSV for PS4 yet?

Not yet, I haven't found a decently priced used copy :lol

I can attest that the audio mixing in MGS 2 was terrible. As much as I tried, I could not adjust my surround sound headset to appropriately capture the correct direction of sounds.

By the way, I did notice that colors of the HD cinematics were much more vibrant that they ought to have been. As a related consequence of the 60 fps frame-rate in the E3 demo of MGS V, I also noticed that there was a gloss on Big Boss's clothes when they became wet (especially his scarf).

I'm not sure if lowering the frame rate might be able to mitigate that, but the wetness did look very unnatural.

Wait till you have proper speakers, it becomes all the more jarring. Since a handful of cutscnes in MGS2 for the PS2 were in Dolby Digital 5.1, they decided to keep it in the HD collection but neglected optimization for the rest of the cutscenes. For example, the first Plant cutscene is in DD 5.1, with the Colonel's voice coming from the center speaker, the choppers ascending from the rear, etc. It's a wonderful mix.

Unfortunately it's all forgotten in the next cutsecne, when Campbell says "You have two mission objectives.." The cutscenes are back in awful upconverted stereo where all the dialog is pushed to all 5 speakers, without any ambient effects to speak of at all. It goes to show they did nothing to remix the audio, something a lot of movie studios would do for Blu Ray releases.

As for the artificial effects in the cutscenes, yeah I heard a lot of complaints way back. It's probably attributed to many things, such as how the PS3/360 handles the effects. I remember reading in the Document of MGS2 that the PS2's fill rate is higher than that of Xbox and Gamecube, despite the PS2 being a much inferior console. The development team used this to their advantage by having lot's of effects such as rain and shimmer, among other things.

The PS2 has custom architecture which is why you see PS3's only having software emulation (instead of hardware) and that even modern PCs doesn't necessarily mean you can emulate a PS2 at 100% accuracy. Which is why you see those awful polka dot water effects in MGS2 HD plus all those glitches in MGS3 HD.

I can't believe the price on this hasn't really changed. I thought it would have been 5 bucks by now.

Never noticed that, nice find. Big Boss is a walking symbol, every part of his design represents something.

Yeah I noticed it, in fact, Yong mentioned how the length of the horn seems to change from trailer to trailer, looking the longer in the Nuclear trailer.

The most logical explanation is that the pressure from his skull and brain are squeezing the horn out, as the story progresses, possibly symbolizing BB descent into hell as he becomes a demon more and more as the horn "grows".

Which I love :rock

And the strap from one of his bags or pouches is supposed to resemble a tail.

Another great video from Yongyea on the 30 minute presentation.

I saw it a few days ago, comments on youtube are saying that having reflex mode can't be considered a record speed run... People are quite serious on this speed run business :lol

Anyway, I started playing mgs3 again today and just remember that Zero was 55 in MGS3 (1964) so in GZ, TPP and MGS4 he's 66, 75 and 105 respectively. Do you think he's still in control of every scheme that concerns BB in TPP? Or has he lost faith and put everything on AI as described by Eva in mgs4.
