If it's like any other open-world triple-A title in recent memory, it's going to be filled with bugs that'll need to be patched. Without KojiPro, the DLCs and bug fixes will have to be handled by new employees (as Konami has just began a hiring process). Forget the fact, that KojiPro had years of experience at their helm...

This game already looks screwed in some ways.

On another note, it's surreal that after this game is released, we probably won't have anything to discuss in the MGS threads :lol. I definitely won't be posting, just in case of spoilers. I'm guessing the collectibles thread is the only one that'll remain relevant for the forseeable future.

Tis sad but true. I only hope that kojima has something else up his sleeve. Hopefully rising2 wont get cancelled. I forget, did konami have anything to do with the first one? If not, then we can hope that the studio that worked on rising will make more mgs iterations.

Well Rising isn't his baby and Platinum was contracted by Konami to do it, I don't see anything happening to Kojima changing that. Rising had a B level story and wasn't intricate or anything so I wouldn't care if someone else wrote it.

That's probably why Rising was so great honestly...I still don't get why people say that game's story was bad, and that the game suffered because of it. I thought it was consistently fun and great from start to finish.

It had an okay story, but not bad at all. But you didn't play it for the story, you did for the gameplay and they did a superb job at it.

I find it funny that after all Hayters years of hard work Kojima discards him because he wants to go in a new direction. Then Konami did it to Kojima. I will miss Hayter. But i was never a Hideo Kojima guy. I like the games obviously, but Kojima has made some god awful decisions with the games by not having a clear vision from 1 game to the next.

Frankly yeah, I don't like Kojima as a person, he came off as the stereotypical Japanese developer. Hayter, as a person, was great no matter what.

And the games indeed lost track of themselves...sad too.

I don't really know what he was like in the 90s, but today, he's beyond your description Pliss :lol it's kind of no wonder he is BFFs with Super Smash Bros and Kirby creator Mashairo Sakurai, dude's almost just weird and can't make up his mind on his games. I still remember he complained about storylines in games today despite being the creator of Kirby, which has storylines thinner than the average Mario game.

When I mentioned how he was in the 90s, I go from interviews... and overall photos.

Looks like an average Japanese guy.

Eeets.... heeeeeee yunnnggg geeeaaar.

I haven't watched everything, but this was actually a fairly good analysis. It's interesting that Big Boss uses a Walkman that was released in 1985 in both Ground Zeroes and TPP. Either heeeyunn is correct, that Kojima doesn't care about historical inaccuracies for product placements. Or, Ryan was correct that this entire thing could be one huge VR Mission :horror.

It was pretty good. What is this VR theory?

One thing that was missed in the video, was how the "Skull" soldiers look very similar to the Borg from Star Trek TNG. The Borg first appeared in the "Q Who" episode of TNG which aired on May 5th 1989 (which oddly enough, falls within the timeline of MGS V in the 80s). In addition, the eye prosthetic on one of the female "Skulls" looks very similar to Seven of Nine from Voyager. It's not the exact thing, but the similarities are there.

I don't think there's anything unique going on with the "Skull" outfits, aside from just a reference to Trek :lol. It's one reason why I don't watch YongYea. I think he overemphasizes his analyses and tries to link everything in MGS lore, when some things could just be Kojima's quirky sense of humor to pop-culture.

That you're not playing as "Big Boss" but as someone else, given that he hardly has any lines in the game and his demeanor seems very off. There are also some aspects of the gameplay that could infer that it's a simulation of some sort. Like when Big Boss puffs on his e-cigar and 24 hours will pass on the fly. He does eat, drink, sleep, or go to the bathroom. He just stands there in one place smoking from sunrise to dawn the next day.

Of course, it could just be that it Kojima isn't taking anything seriously...
