Yeah, I was hoping we'd see some new MGS stuff from HT previewed here. Aren't they still just setting up though?

We're talking about VGM here. Has Hot Toys ever revealed a VGM figure before the release of a game? :dunno

We won't see anything out of the TPP line for at least 2-3 years when no one cares about it anymore.

I think the only reason why the Raiden figure came as fast as did, is because he's a cyborg (and Asians love their cyborg and robot men). If it's a human VG character, HT really wouldn't care less about releasing it early.

Are they only removing Kojima's name from the box art or will he be wiped from in game credits too?

I'm more interested in getting my hands on it now just to see if Konami has ****ed with it.

When did the RE5 HTs come out? I know some of them were previewed before the game but that's lal

True about Raiden, same with the variant as well

Well, RE 5 was released in March 2009. And from the thread below, Chris Redfield (the S.T.A.R.S version) was announced around Sept 2009. The figure was released in March/April 2010 - judging from when people were commenting that their figures were being shipped. Unfortunately, I didn't collect any RE figures back then :lol.

And I've decided not to pre-order the red Raiden figure. The only thing that interested me, was the visor with digital readout that isn't available on the regular figure. But, $300 is a lot to pay for just a visor. If the visor's loose on Ebay, I'll pick it up then.

It'll probably be loose, accessories from other exclusives like S.W.A.T Jim Gordon were on eBay.

I probably won't get the Inferno Raiden either, since I do want the regular, black Raiden on display...at some point, when I have actual funds

Koto Metal Gear ST-84 model kit

I like it, looks very prototypical and early design with those chicken legs, and it has some elements of PW/Zeke in there, looks like a natural predecessor to Rex.

But, REX wasn't supposed to have a predecessor. Remember Granin's blueprints from MGS 3? Metal Gear D, TX-55 and REX were all there.

On another note, I wonder how technologically advanced the ST-84 is going to be. From eeyungah's analysis video, it's shown to have robotic arms :rotfl.

Not direct predecessor, but like a relative, if that makes sense :lol all military vehicles have stuff the got from earlier vehicles, like tanks, tanks have looong lineages. I don't have a problem with the idea, plus gotta pull dem nostalgia strings :lol

But, look how primitive looking the TX-55 was. You mean to tell me that an early REX model came before it? :lol I'm not saying you're wrong, because that's definitely the case with MGS V. There's no denying it, just from the way the ST-84 looks.

I guess I shouldn't take the canon too seriously, after all that advanced mech stuff from Peace Walker.

Actually, the retro-futuristic Maschinen Krieger design feels more advanced to me than the clunky PW with parts of Rex, Ma.K. in general feels more modern to me despite being retro due to it's smoother and simpler design, it always has. Plus it's smaller isn't it? All signs of more advanced tech. So in that regard makes sense to me.

I wonder if Kojima even thought this through...

You've got Big Boss constantly fighting all of these super-advanced mechs in the 70s and 80s. But, then Solid Snake is left to destroy the equivalent of garbage technology by comparison... and, he becomes a living legend for doing it.

I think Kojima should've referred to Wikipedia to help him remember the timeline.

I don't mind that, BB is supposed to be the bigger legend, and Snake always the underdog, that's why I like him.

Although Ray and Rex still feel more menacing to me than the glorified drones from PW.

Well, in MGS, Tokugawa Heavy Industries specialized in human-sized exoskeletons. There were a bunch of their suits in MGS 4, during the escape scene with Drebin's APC. So, I guess the Ma. K thing actually holds up with the time line. I think it looks primitive enough, since it doesn't have a cockpit and Big Boss has to literally piggy back it.
