I had UC at release, beat it and then sold it off because I couldn't get back into it again... I figured UC2 would be the same way, but from everyone says it's fantastic.

I wouldn't really lump me in with bandwagon douches, since even if I am per se... I'm extremely critical to games, so I'm not just going to love it just for the sake of it.

Difficult to answer... I'd like one or two more Solid Snake games, but it's unlikely. At this point, I'd rather just have more Rising games since those don't really need Kojima at all.
Man, I really want two more Solid Snake games too, he had only two 3D games, and MGS2's intro. Raiden has MGS2 and MGR, and Big Boss has four, five if you want to count GZ.

You keep forgetting the extra "S", Purtle. And I've played and beaten UC1 BTW.
I swear he does it on purpose...

In any case, I think we need to see how Uncharted 4 plays out to see how it is with new fans. I know for a lot of games, when fans play a game in the franchise for the first time, they pretty much praise it like crazy, and base all the other games on it for stuff. It's so annoying...especially when that game doesn't really compare to the older games, OR does things that never should have been done that later games picked up on. I have no real favorite of Uncharted, it's a hard pick but 2 is mighty good...

The thing with Uncharted is that it doesn't really have an intricate backstory yet that can span many contradictions so they can always churn a new one, it's always this "new adventure".

I think it's just ND having fun, and being like Indiana Jones and maybe National Treasure, that's all. Uncharted 3 did try too make it more personal, which was fine at times. But I dunno, something felt off about its story at times, the worst being Talbot...what the **** man?!

Naughty Dog is truly king, however :lecture grew up with them all my life, even if I did get on Jak and Daxter a little late but still, Naughty Dog for life.

I don't do it on purpose, and do you ever have your own opinion? It's becoming cringeworthy :lol

Uncharted 2 is probably my favorite.

Although looking back, the dialog can be a bit Wheedony.

The MCU damn near ruined Uncharted for me.

I haven't played it in a while but I think it's Naughty Dawg's most well executed game. I plan on replaying it once I get the remastered trilogy. Now this might ruin the game for me too since I'm going to be paying extra attention to the dialogue :lol

The gameplay and story go perfect together.

I might not agree with Plissken, Solidus and Ryan when it comes to some games here but I respect the fact they all have their own opinion, but you just always seem go in whatever direction the wind blowing. Your last 3 posts in the " Rate your last game" thread are really really indicative of that :lol

I love how it's easy to start arguments in these threads :lol.

Anyways, FSLAR's got his own opinions about MGS, as well. I think MGS 3's his favorite game of the series, and he dislikes MGS 4 for different reasons. He thought the ending fight between Snake and Ocelot was lame, because it was between two old men clinging to life. Whereas, I thought it was a pretty cool throwback to MGS 1. And I don't think FSLAR is particularly fond of MGS 1, mostly because of a bad experience he had with a close friend.

In any case, he recently got into MGS not too long ago, but I can appreciate that he's really open-minded enough to read what others have to say, and experience the games for himself. There are way too many fairweather fans who recently came into this series, and they're so cantankerous, cursing people out on YouTube and elsewhere, with the knowledge they got from Wikipedia - trying way too hard to gain cred in the conversations. It gets tiring seeing those kind of people, but FSLAR's not like that.

To be honest it's not really regarding MGS, pretty much everything else though. Go back and read that thread I mentioned, he goes from agreeing with Ryan to agreeing with Riddick to agreeing with you :lol and that's not really unusual for him either :lol

I really wouldn't have said anything but he always seems to try and make a sly comment or two when the situation has nothing to do with him.

Finally completed all the side ops.
Just need to do all the objectives I missed for the missions and S-rank a few I missed off.
Got a bit bored near the end of doing the side ops so just equipped the infinity bandana and that multi rocket launching thing.

I've disagreed with Ryan, Solidus and Pliss on a number of things. Nolan Batman movies, MGS1-3 (which Solidus is right about with me and MGS1, along with the fact that the game just didn't stick with me, even though I appreciate it, I just didn't see everything everyone loves about it. Happens with people, I guess), voice actors Troy Baker and Nolan North, Nintendo to a degree, and so on. I just stick with people whose views match mine.

also I troll. A lot. And I genuinely hate MGS's fanbase, I can't tell you guys how many times people just nitpicked at what I said about MGS1 in my LP, which while outdated and was sorta bold statements, or just statements I didn't convey and explain well enough, I still stand by for the most part. That's really why I said those things in the thread, cause everyone glorifies this series. It's great, but the amount of glorification is sickening. Plus I started the brief Arkham Knight discussion, so I really don't see your point there.

Yeah, you don't have to explain any of that to me or most others here :lecture.

In any case, I think this one of the best critical reviews of MGS V I've read on Steam. It touches on a lot of other points that we never discussed.

Above all, the world feels dead. There's supposed to be a war in Afghanistan going on, yet we don't see any Mujahideen fighters, civilians, or even any enemies outside of the outposts. There are no cars or tanks on the road except the very rare SINGLE transport truck that drives around. Tanks, choppers, even most animals do NOT spawn unless you are in a mission. Free roam is heavily restricted to recruiting a handful of guys, grabbing the holy grail that is the transport truck if you want to be able to go anywhere not on foot, and taking in the sights. And with both maps looking like a brownish dessert for the most part, that will get old quick. There are a few green areas here and there. but for the most part it falls off. There is no 'predator-esq' jungles. Most disapointingly is the lack of stronghold, or anything concrete really, the buildings are small and easily cleared/forgotten. It's easy to see this is an unfinished game as it lacks a a great many things old games had;

There are no visible tranq darts

Unlike MGS3 you can't destroy storage houses and hear guards talk to themselves about how hungry they are and run out of ammo, there are also no richocheting bullets

You can't feed hungry guards good or poisoned food and have them comment on it or die

Guards have a couple repeated conversations instead of many like in other MGS games

Guards never talk to themselves

No dialoge for guard interrogations

There is no locational damage system

Pointing your gun at guards no longer makes them react outside of getting held up

Guards don't follow footprints

Hardly any flora/faunt and you can't eat it

Normal guards stay held up forever if nobody tells them to stop

Dead guards no longer leave blood trails when you carry them

Rocket punch is invisible when in MGS1/2 the guards would see, hear, avoid, and shoot at the Nikita missile

Worst designed bosses in the series, they're easy on top

No camera

No knife

No MGS4 masks

No swimsuits

No VR missions

No random parody games

"TECHNOLOGY" Easter eggs rarely appear

No swimming

No difficulty levels

Easy even with max heroism

Side-ops downgraded from PW (EXTRACT THIS GUY 1-18, EXTRACT THIS PRISONER 1-19, EXTRACT THIS TANK UNIT 1-24, etc.)

None of the levels are designed on par with MGS1-4 (Absolutely no major buildings/urban environments)

The cover system is the worst in the series

You can no longer lean up or to the side while aiming

From MGS4 - ledge shooting, crotch grabbing, prone CQC, supine/prone switching wasn't implemented

Contextual keys make it impossible to pick up a soldier if his gun is under him

A handful of cutscenes and none of them are memorable

Some of the main characters don't speak at all

The radio and tapes are more boring than any game's codec, and PW tapes were more entertaining and insightful

The story that could have wrote itself by the previous games somehow ended up to be ♥♥♥♥ing terrible in every way

Massive amounts of cut content, no proper ending for starters

But hey, the FOB missions are kinda fun. Keeps me playing for the most part. Sucks hard for defenders though.

Nice tangent at the end...

Yeah, I'm sorry Gaspar. I shouldn't have jumped in. I read everyone's comments, but I didn't have a chance to respond. I didn't mean to be patronizing or anything. I have no problem with anyone's tastes in anything, but I upset that people were putting other fans down. And if I ever did that, I didn't mean it.

:lol don't worry, you're probably the least patronizing guy around, no harm done.

I wasn't putting fans down, but you have to admit fanbases these days do have quite a bit of smoke.

Oh, good. I felt so bad because I'd consider you a friend on here, man. The reason why I got on here is because of meeting you and pturtle on the X-Men threads.

You quote me, but you address Gaspar? You're a real funny guy, Bane...

One thing that seriously bugs me is if you're near a railing, like on a FOB defense/offense you can't draw your gun if you're too close to it... there's a lot of broken mechanics in it... especially not being able to climb over a rock over 12 inches high...

That's something that bothered me about the mechanics, too. I would've expected if they added a sprint and jump feature, Venom would've at least been able to reach over and climb a ledge that's above his standing height. I also hate how it's easy to slide off rocks that you should be able to sprint over. I haven't tried FOB as yet... in fact, I still haven't been invaded :lol.
