I have yet to attempt a ground punch pose with any of my figures...my Mark 42 arrives Monday so I may attempt it then.

Don't even try, it can't be done.

Don't even try, it can't be done...just wait for this one.

Looks like the ground punch will be the definitive pose for the Mk3...can't wait for mine :impatient:

What exactly did you base this statement on? Almost every single iron man can do it. From original mk3 to the 43. I don't get why people keep spreading incorrect info.

I don't have any Iron Man figures yet (though the Mark III is on preorder), so I have no first hand knowledge about this, but I have heard that the ground and pound pose does not look as good from every angle with the other figures because it has to kind of "cheat" some things to get into the pose. The picture above of the 42 looks awesome, but I have no idea if it looks weird from another angle. Now what doesn't "look good" or "looks weird" may be a completely subjective point of view, but I understand the swap out waist of the Mark III allows for a more technically accurate pose that looks right from all angles. Again, this isn't my argument, just repeating what I have heard others say. Frankly I have seen lots of other figures put in that pose that looks great as far as I am concerened and I don't care that much about how "technically" correct it might be. As far as the Mark III goes, I like the figure and I like the swap out mid section to be able to do that pose if I want to; I am sure I will do it at some point but that's not everything to me. What I like about this die cast version is that it looks more proportionaltly correct than the previous plastic version. I always thought the waist on the first version looked too narrow as it allowed for articulation. I am happy with the die cast option because to me it is a possible statue and I likely will only pose it a few different ways and leave it a pose for long periods of time.

That's true. Some don't look as good as others, and some look better at certain angles. But that's true of most everything really.

I was replying to the comment "don't even" try. Like it's not possible. Which isn't the case. And as you can see the mk42 was the best at the ground pound. The mk3 is better in some respects beciase of the swap out abs, but the 42 as a little better lower limb articulation. What looks better is subjective as you said. But they can still almost all do it. With ones like iron monger and mk1 and igor as outliers.

For the life of me I can't understand the obsession with 'ground poses' period.... :huh Imagine having a shelf with 12 figures all lined up side by side ground posed..

I think having 12 Iron Man figures regardless of the pose is enough of an obsession for lots of people not to understand. :rotfl

But, don't worry, you're among friends :)

Hahaha good post
That photo or figure is manipulated somehow. It's a GREAT pic. It looks like the Left Leg may not even be attached at the joint and the side of the "briefs" has been cut..almost like the extra flap on the Mark 43.
Also, to get the head to look up like that, it would have to be off the joint or you need to crack the neck at the seem. This allows the neck joint further range.

While some IM figures will be able to do the GP pose better than others, it won't be like the movie(s). In the films, the Leg & Armor can't physically exist in the space for that extreme pose. It looks great, but it happens fast. If you look at the stills, you can see how the leg armor can't possible fit...CG manipulation at it's best.

What i meant was that the 42 cant do a proper GP...

I have Mk2 AU, SilverCentuioj, HearBreakr, and Mk42...none of them can do it correctly...

The pic YP posted, as stated by Haley, has either been alered or the figure was...

Edit: just reached my 700 post :dance

I like the Ground Pound pose because it just looks amazing and dynamic. No other figure in my collection can do something like that so it is eye catching. If only pose this IM figure like that and I'm glad the MK3 makes it easier to pull off

The best I've seen was the IP. Looks good in most angles except from behind because of the drop down hip. The head extension is also limited in most of this IM figure. Looks like the head in mk3 looks up better.

Haha i know, just commented on your post about IP...

Although, if you have a mirrored Detolf...:slap

And also with that rotating stand. Either way, there's no perfect ground & pose unless it's a statue. The closest thing would be this & the IP/wm.

The 43 is the only IM i've been able to get into a decent Ground pound
