anyone think this figure is going to have torso articulation (specs say 36 points articulation)

I am hopeful that it might. The chest reveal has me thinking otherwise, but something tells me it could be segmented somehow. If they are counting flaps and fingers as articulation, then who knows?

Thanks for the warm welcome, hokietwo :)

I don't mind paying the nonrefundable deposit if I know I'll keep my order but when it's for something I'm on the fence about I wait it out until closer to the release date. I want this figure but I'm waiting on a few other things to be revealed to see what they cost as I may want them more than this and might not be able to get them all.

have you never ordered from SSC? I don't feel like paying a deposit on a figure that doesn't come out until next year. If something else comes out and I need/want to cancel, I'm out the money.

Thats what the NRD has to do with it. Understand now???

I have ordered most of my figures from SSC.

The section I bolded is not very ethical behavior for a customer.

When you pre-order an item you are promising the company that you will buy it when it becomes available and they are promising that they will sell it to you.

What would you do if they cancelled your order 6 months after you pre-ordered something so they could sell it for a higher price.

I bet you would be upset.

I run projects on another forum and know from experience that NDRs are a necessary to keep people from making impulse decisions and then backing out when it's time to pay.

I know other members that don't ask for NDRs and then get upset when half of their interest list doesn't follow through and sticks then with a lot of extra parts.

Its just a wise business move.

While they dont charge an NRD nor did they hike up the price some US friends of mine have had that issue ordering Legacy Power Ranger items on PO from Toys r Us with random cancellations of PO's.

Sooooo my NRD vanished off my card. It was a pending hold, but now it's gone, and the item is still pre-ordered. Not really sure what happened as the NRD hold had been there for like 4 days lol.

This. I will pay the NRD on items I know I 100% want. If I'm on the fence, I hold off.

See my post above. That is why I HAVE NOT PO'd this figure. I'm on the fence. I'm not made of money so if something comes up that I want more, I guess I'm unethical then for cancelling one order and ordering something else. :dunno

For custom parts and what not made by individual artists, I understand. That makes sense, but comparing them to a large company like SSC is not relevant IMO. I've ordered custom parts and don't mind paying the NRD because you are essentially paying the artist for their time and what not to make the item for you.

Obviously SSC is doing just fine with allowing people to cancel their orders. If they weren't, they would have NRD's on everything. BBTS doesn't require NRD's and ALOT of freaks on this board use them for that reason. Allowing them to cancel if need be. When you are waiting sometimes close to a year for an item, its a wise business move to allow people to cancel if they need to. I can't predict the future so if I need to cancel an item for other financial obligations, I should be able to without penalty.

Anyways, back on topic.

yea well im hopeing they do put articulation in the torso. i guess well have to waite and see.:impatient:

I was going by your first comment which seemed to make it sound like the only reason you hadn't POed this yet was because of the NRD

The only thing keeping me from ordering this right now is the NRD from SSC.

I can understand if you're on the fence but pre-ordering an item that you may or may not want is unfair to other collectors that DO want it and may not have been as fast as you to pre-order it.

Lol at this. If I'm on the fence about something but end up buying it has nothing to do with being "fair" to collectors.

It's called "do what you want with your $$$". As long as it's not a ripoff, I don't have a problem doing it.

If the guy is uncomfortable with an NRD then let him, what is it to you or anybody, really?

What really gets me though, it's people saying that they have to wait for their paycheck to pay a NRD. Now, that's alarming. A red flag that probably means you are in the wrong hobby.

Yeah, agreed about the paycheck to paycheck NRD payer. I have had to scale back on what I buy because my kids are getting older and are in alot of sports, plus the cost of EVERYTHING going up. I am more selective. I only buy what I REALLY want. I used to buy anything that looked cool, but not anymore. If an NRD makes me contemplate my decision, then its doing what it is supposed to do. Only people who are 100% getting the figure or those who don't care about losing the NRD will buy it.

Putting a limited item on pre-order with the possibility that you may cancel the order is unfair to other collectors. I'm sure there are a bunch of people on the wait list for Python that would agree.

BTW: it's a bit hypothetical to criticize me for not like this practice while you simultaneously post about a practice that you don't like.

You may not know that persons situation. They might live at home, with no bills and just work to buy Hot Toys figures and pay for them from pay check to pay check.

it would depend on what has gone on that month though I suppose, my budget is fairly tight but allows for some splurging... get something random come up in a month and it takes away the ability to pay an NRD, gotta remember some people may be here and only pick up a couple of figures a year.

Sideshow and Hot Toys also make it difficult to budget for pieces that are a year away. Things get delayed or pushed up but are rarely released the month they were advertised. I've got a lot of items that will be out October because of the shuffling around. I'm fortunate that I can handle the schedule changes but some people can't. No fault of their own--when you plan for 1 or 2 to be released one month and it increases to 3-5 pieces some people have to choose.
