Yeah mine looked dark red also, then I took a hair dryer to it and watched it slowly change to the correct orange.

Nice. I didn't think about using a hair dryer. I just set them out overnight to dry. They did indeed lighten up to the same color as your pics.

All the burnt holes still show through out the jumpsuit. The result is excellent.

Honestly it seems like even though Hot Toys couldnt get permission to use the correct orange that they did it anyway and through paint or dyeing made it the muddy brown that shipped, knowing that if you bleached it, you would get the original, accurate color.

That would be the one way to get around not getting the rights to something.

O ya this was definitely intentional ..hot toys U GUYS ROCK!

mine will be here tomorrow! i picked up a 1/6 scale orange jumpsuit a while back, but the bleaching method actually sounds easier than trying to customize the one i have with burns and such.

So are you guys just useing ordinary house hold bleach on his pants. Ime getting mine in a few days i don't want to mess it up.

check back a few pages and there are some pretty good directions. All of us seem to have slightly different ways but we all ended up pretty much with the same results.

Alter Ego shipped mine out August 31st and will be delivered Sept. 3rd. :yess: Now I'm debating if to pick up an extra jumpsuit and do the bleaching to get the movie accurate color.

I just used regular generic brand bleach from Krogers.
1-1/2 cups bleach, 1 cup water, submerge pants all the way for about 5-7 seconds, rinse in cold water and then put a hair dryer to it.

cake.

Wow that was easier than my route. We had some gel concentrate kind of bleach. After I mixed it with water I had to let the pants stay in a good 10-15 minutes.

I'm getting my Whiplash tomorrow. I was going to buy an extra set of pants to bleach, but instead I'm going to just do it to the pants he comes with. If I mess them up, I'll buy another set on ebay. I don't really need two sets of pants for him anyway. :)

If you mess them up, and I really don't think you will but let me know. I'll have an extra pair tomorrow.

Got mine today, bleached the jumpsuit, set up the whips....outstanding figure! Pics in the morning, gotta crash after a 15 hour day. :panic::cuckoo:

Just curious who came up with the idea to bleach them and it so happens to be they turn orange? I'm assuming this was intentional by hot toys and so they hinted to the fans this?
