Stark has both the faceplate and the full helmet removed on different occasions whilst wearing the VII in The Avengers, and he steps out of the 43 and wears parts of it in AoU. I think the difference with the 45 is that he is never actually seen onscreen with it.

The faceplate was removed once the suit was heavily damaged and was represented by the Battle damaged version of the Mk7 figure and the helmet was removed for all of a couple of seconds confronting Loki. What I mean to say is its a shame they don't put in extras into these figures which are not quite how we saw them in the film such as the Mark 7 with a Stark head when the only time you see him without a helmet with the suit in the condition the figure can be set up with is from some of the posters and the Blue Ray cover.

The only time we have seen the 43 without a helmet (full suit not the torso armor and gauntlet from the Vision scene) comes from posters and the Empire cover. This is why I am hopeful the 46 may come with that option as he's seen in the trailer a few times without the helmet (even if he will have a black eye), that or a Mark 6 is announced which has one even if I would be really greedy and want both open visor and full head options (never happen especially with weapons and possibly the odd damaged piece)

Yeah one of the best scenes in a1 was stark in the suit with no face plate. After hulk screamed at him to wake him after the worm hole.

That was a great scene especially when Tony said "No one kissed me?", its amongst the best scenes from that film though I think there are so many from that movie which are really memorable.

i wish every armor included a removable faceplate revealing a stark face. if he's going to show his face in the armor, that's my favorite way to see it. i think the completely helmet-less head just looks a little goofy. the only time that i think it worked was when he was sitting inside the donut, eating donuts. it was funny.

it's not that big of a deal though, it just would be something that's nice to have on each of them. but i understand that it would just add an extra cost to all of them, so it's not very practical.

I am very confident that the 46 will come with an unhelmeted sculpt, given that it seems like he's going to be unmasked in some big scenes for a decent length of time.

yeah, i'd say that's a safe bet.

i wonder if the 46 will have any cool new pop out weaponry. as of right now, i only plan on getting the 45 since i like the design of it more than the 46.. but if the 46 comes with a bunch of cool accessories, i may not be able to pass it up.

With 46 having to accommodate a whole bunch of small lights all over the armor, the odds of having pop out accessories are kinda small, IMO.

I guess I should've been a little more specific, by "pop out", I meant like 7's accessories, they pop out in the movie but on the figure are extra pieces. That's what I meant.

gah

every time I see a picture of this figure it makes the wait that much more unbearable

this is the most bad ass looking IM design to date in my opinion

if only they would have kept the same design in civil war because we barely get to see it in avengers 2 and the mk 46 just isn't nearly as cool looking

Nor did we get to see what the 45 is capable of since it was used only in the basic way: flying, lasers, thrusters, repulser. We didnt get see what else it can do.

Well, Joss said at some point that he intended to have 45 be the new updated 3. No fancy stuff, just what we all know and love in a typical armor! So no gimmicky function or even a suit up! But this suit looks so bada$$!

A return to the wearable Ferarri aesthetic I recall it saying in the "Art of" book ...love that quote.

i absolutely agree with you.

i don't know why, but i really like the design of the forearms. i also really like the hexagonal shape around the reactor and the rib area detailing.

most of all, i think it's one of the best looking helmets, it's right up there with heartbreaker's. i love the little vents where the ears are, and i think the faceplate looks great. i think that's what i dislike most about the 46, the line placement on the faceplate.

i just wish this figure had the same light features that the 1/4 version has.. but it's not a big deal and i totally understand why they aren't included.

lastly, the paint job just looks gorgeous. out of the iron man figures that i own, i like the worn look far better than the pristine armor. they make the armors look much more realistic. and it really makes me appreciate the intricacy of the paint work. plus, it makes me more comfortable with possible QC issues. clean armors just make me worry too much.

That's true. The biggest issue with remote controlling would be latency, however, based on what we've seen in Iron Man 3, that does not appear to be an issue. So there really is absolutely no reason why he needs to put his life on the line.

This raises an interesting thought, I wonder if we might still see Iron Man/Iron Legion drones after RDJ's contract expires.

To go completely off topic here...

Kevin Feige has said before that they will recast Tony Stark like James Bond...

I think whoever (brave enough) takes it will have a very tough act to follow...

I'm glad to hear this, I remember for awhile the thought of recasting Tony was up in the air. I'd rather them recast him than do something lame like having a younger character take his place.

I'd probably prefer them to retire Iron Man from the MCU lineup than recast. With all the new characters hitting the big screen, I don't think we need Iron Man constantly present - the MCU should have enough to continue without. On top of that, any replacement is going to have a hard time convincing everyone that they are the same character that has been built up through several films over 15 odd years.

MCU started in 2008, so by the time of AVG3 Part 2 - 2019, it will only be 11 years.

To play devil's advocate here, Roger Moore played James bond for 12 years, appearing in 7 Bond films. He was the longest time Bond and the Bond franchise survived without him. In the beginning, no one thought they can replace Connery either...

I hate to see RDJ go, but the whole story behind CW was that RDJ would not want to do Iron Man 4 after he got injured on the set of Iron Man 3. He is feeling old and wants out. So he only signed up for AVG 2 & 3. But the powers that be persuaded him to "guest star" on CW as a way to keep the audience and the Iron Man franchise on the radar. (They tied in his salary for CW with AVG 2, for like $80M!!!) So I don't see much of a continuation of the Iron Man story with RDJ after AVG 3 Part I & II...

James Bond films are standalone. It's entirely different. We're talking about a different face playing the same character in the existing universe.
