Here's a compare...

For those who dare, this would be a pretty serious repaint... but it can be done.

I know it's wrong, but I like the blue... *runs from rocks thrown*

Maybe this is a fairer compare:

Personally, I'd have liked full anatomical accurracy, but as far as paint, I prefer the toy because it simluates film conditions to represent the film vision, where the browns/yellows of the suit and puppet would, to me, looks kinda ugly on the toy.

Maulfan, you're having so much fun... I'm so jealous. :D

FANTASTIC pictures too... This is now my most wanted figure for 2007.

This and the Endo.

I want to see ALIEN vs. ENDO!

Yeah MF, you have sold plenty of figures with this shoot!
It does look amazing! Much better than even I had said.

:D

Unfortunately, that won't be any time soon, to budget in the Warrior and some other things I've put on rush priority, my Endo is coming from Sideshow with not even a 30 day notice for it yet, but certainly once I do get it. In the mean time, sometime near the end of this week, early next week, I should have one Corporal Hicks vs. Alien going on.

And thank you Les, if I've made in impression on you about this figure, then I've succeeded. I think if you don't look at as something intended to be a perfect representation of the film, and just see it as a collectible based off the film and take in the quality and detainl put into the figure, you'll see a kickass figure and look beyond the movie-collectible relationship.

I'm speechless MF. Blown away... just blown away with these images. Amazing work my friend.

Thanks Paul, I'm deffinately digging the paint apps for some of these shots, they're helping to show anatomy where it wouldn't if the body were all dark, so it's fun to see the film's production techniques applied to a figure and successful with it. The eggs could be about 30% bigger to really be in scale with a human 1/6 figure, but with a warrior, it just adds to the size of the creature and there's nothing wrong with that. I wish/hope HT will realease eggs one day, it'd be really cool too if they made em with rubber like the warriors and had a lever that could open the aperture like in the movies and have some face huggers with the bendy feature in their fingers to wrap them around human figures, I'm sure they'd sell well, I can't imagine anyone buying up figures in this line wouldn't want some well made eggs and face huggers. I'm going to look into tracking down a McFarlane alien to get some face huggers.

You know MF, re: paint apps I really haven't thought of it that way before. You have opened my eyes dude...

I DO like the blue highlights and all but had problems with the lighter tones and camo compared to the puppet and suit colors (darker brown tones, etc.) but yeah, when you put it into the context of the Film (blue filters, etc) and how it may be posed in different lighting it makes total sense...

Well, seriously, it's much simpler than that...
The figure looks much better than I had seen. It poses well, looks better, and the paints, though a tad limited, are not bad.
And I love the shoulders! Go figure! Still working on the head. It is a tad odd, not bowed enough, but I get why.
But, the paint on the ribs, and in other areas is really pretty cool.

I was looking at so much of the form, but in a lot of your shots, where it's in action, it holds up very well, and actually has more of Giger than I had thought. Remember, these were only one movie removed from the original, so there were elements, even in the spandex, of his original design. So, this toy is very cool in that it captures more than I was aware.
That is worth it all.

Thanks for that. You've made me very anxious for mine! Like...
I WANT IT NOW! :rock

I agree with you on the head Les, but like I said before, looking at it, I think it was due to the functioning jaw design and not poor film matching, and from some angles, it looks like it's as curved as it should be. As for looking Giger-like in the design, I really think it boils down to lighting. All of the shots between HT images and the first wave of fan images didn't quite have that film quality lighting, but watching Alien and Aliens, the lighting of shadow and light is done in a way that reflects Giger's artwork so it capture his efforts nicely, and to truly see that in any 3D form, it helps to have the right lighting on it. I keep looking at the nest shot I did of the warrior by itself arching back with the inner jaw out, and looking at the lighting I got on the rib cage area keeps reminding me of the Alien architecture formed in SL3 and in the Space Jockey's craft from Alien. Funds and circumstance permitting, it'd be great to have this with the Sideshow 1:1 bust someday. Definitely looking forward to seeing what you do with your warrior Les, and I hope the production materials facilitate your vision, I know you've expressed concern about what you can do with the rubber.

For me, this one really sells it. Reminds me a bit of that awesome shot in Alien when the alien rises up into frame over Lambert's shoulder. Probably my favorite shot in Alien. If the HT alien here had its mouth closed it would feel a lot like that. I always loved that nasty grin the alien had.

Ah yes, that sneer is indelible.

What the....!?! When did this guy start shipping?

Great pics MaulFan! I love the Romeo and Juliet pose!

NOTE: I have been living in a cave for a week.

gdb, Toys2 started shipping the warrior a week ago, and Sideshow's expecting theirs by month end.
