I'm kind of stuck with this set because I used over $250 in RP on it. Therefore, I am hoping for a miracle with Chewie. Any delay is welcomed with open arms at this point. Just get this thing right HT.

If he can evoke 80's nostalgia in Super 8, a completely new property, I'm sure he's going to be able to do it for Star Wars. Can't wait.

He didn't though. Super8 was very disappointing. The trailer with the theme for Cocoon was great, the rest a poor pastiche of Spielberg in his heyday, but without any of the magic.

I'm a big Abrams fan, but I have to agree Super 8 just didn't work as well as it should have. It felt a little too adoring of Spielberg for my taste, and ultimately the story just wasn't that original.

That said though, he's still a really dynamic filmmaker who actually seems to care about having memorable characters along with the flashy spectacle, and did a terrific job with MI3 and the first Star Trek, so I'm not worried about TFA at all.

Well hopefully this is last delay thought i was safe having last flex on 25th of month. Hopefully means both getting released n reviews in august soon. While we wait for the Falcon to get fixed ha ha again and han n chewy make it here in september. I Cant wait to see hot toys take on yoda n Emperor and release a throne with Emperor release. I bet we will get a 2nd chewy 2.0 release with C3po n head backwards cargo bag later on or a deluxe 3po would be cool.

Wasn't Super 8 set in the 70s?

Nothing to do with when it's set, it simply brought back a nostalgic feeling of watching movies in the early to mid 80's, like the Goonies. Contrast that to the PT which simply didn't have the nostalgic SW feel. I'm expecting that missing element to be present in TFA, and not simply because we'll have some returning characters.

Opening this thread has just reminded me I had a nerd dream last night. I dreamt that I received this figure and it looked not too far away from that hairball I posted a while back. And I was ok with it.

I have faith in Abrams as a filmmaker. I wouldn't be nearly so hopeful if Lucas had been given the directing reins!
All I can say to people who have doubt in their mind about the new film is watch the SDCC making of trailer. If that doesn't make a person hyped as hell for The Force Awakens I'm not sure what would. It just felt so right and like it belongs with the Star Wars of the Original Trilogy rather than the Prequel Trilogy. I loved how they emphasized that they're shooting on real sets and using practical effects and showing actual people in costume for the various creatures and droids. Seeing that made me happy and you can tell that Abrams and everyone involved with the new film wants to make it as good as possible.

I don't get hyped for any film.

All I know is that TFA will be second rate compared to the OT.

I already got Menaced ONCE. The same JJ Abrams that already wrecked Star Trek with lens flares in every frame, made Kirk a Beastie Boys blasting Fast and the Furious reject and Uhura Uhwhore that gets it on with Spock, and Shaka Khan-not-Khan.

Also from what I've heard from people working at Disney, JJ is resigned to fulfilling his contract that he tried hard to get out of during pre-production. Lots of tension BTS between him and Kathleen Kennedy that you won't hear about from the Mouse PR. This is why he opted out of Episodes 8 and 9 and Rian Johnson was brought in to direct. One thing is certain though, if the fans hate it, JJ will be the one who will get blamed for it as the man who destroyed the two most successful sci-fi franchises.

You got that right.

Really? That sucks. Hard to imagine creative differences with JJ, who really doesn't push the envelop in any way.

But maybe tension will create some good energy. Look what happen to the PT with zero tension or hard feedback.

I thought they go way back. JJ Kathlene and George all go way back to before he started being a director and was an intern or something for George.

The Phantom Menace never once looked as good as the new film in my honest opinion. I can sort of see why some are skeptical but I think Disney realizes that the Prequel Trilogy wasn't the most well received by a lot of fans and it seems like that SDCC trailer was made to emphasize that the new film won't be like the prequels.

Also I haven't heard much about tension between him and Disney other than a rumor about them disagreeing on the release date. In fact I've heard that people within Disney who have seen the film actually want him to come back for Episode IX.
