I also heard he was coming back for episode 9.

I hear a lot of hate towards JJ but I actually thought his take on ST was fun.

I remain cautiously optimistic about his Star Wars film, while remembering that it's a different world and the OT can never happen again.

I think JJ will do a great job on Star Wars. I don't think success is a given though, he has had a patchy career. And I would imagine he has had to battle constant commerciality with Disney and vicariously KK.

The Phantom Menace never once looked as good as the new film in my honest opinion. I can sort of see why some are skeptical but I think Disney realizes that the Prequel Trilogy wasn't the most well received by a lot of fans and it seems like that SDCC trailer was made to emphasize that the new film won't be like the prequels.

Also I haven't heard much about tension between him and Disney other than a rumor about them disagreeing on the release date. In fact I've heard that people within Disney who have seen the film actually want him to come back for Episode IX.

Aaah now. The Phantom Menace trailer was and still is one of the best of all time. I think that has been pretty universally acknowledged.

I guess that's true but I think this will be a different story all together. The Phantom Menace always seemed more processed. You can tell a definite difference between the new film and any of the prequels. All Lucas cared about was digital filmmaking and CG effects and everything felt fake from the get go. The new film Abrams is going back to basics and I feel the film will be better for it.

Everything about the PT, including the trailer sucked. I'd go so far as to say the trailer sucked even worse than the movie, which is decidedly backwards from a lot of what comes out of Hollywood.

There's just nothing redeeming about the PT at all and it's only gotten worse with age.

Whatever problems there were with the Trek movies, I attribute mostly to the writers (who don't exactly have the greatest track record ever). And I think one thing the movies DID prove pretty clearly was how much of a better fit JJ was with SW than Trek.

I mean if he could take those stories and turn them into dynamic, entertaining movies, just imagine what he'll be able to do with something written by Lawrence Kasdan.

I take it you're not a fan then.

Facebook-rage dealing with people condoning and promoting re-casting, while others calling SFF a cesspool. Then I have to come into an OT thread to read about the PT and it just pushes me over the edge I tell you. RIGHT OVER. The EDGE. ;)

I feel like the only PT movie that has suffered is AotC. TPM and RotS have improved (the former quite significantly, imo).

I love TPM - always will. Even the stupid Gungans can't make me mad, I just ignore all that sheet.

Agreed regarding EPII; it's got maybe one or two cool things - if that, but it's painful to sit through now.

ROTS I watched TO DEATH back in the day. It's a silly movie, but has some cool moments. Now I'm completely sick to the back teeth of the mofo. :lol

I got an email yesterday telling me that my last payment for the bundle Han/Chewie will be processed on Aug/25.

Also from what I've heard from people working at Disney, JJ is resigned to fulfilling his contract that he tried hard to get out of during pre-production. Lots of tension BTS between him and Kathleen Kennedy that you won't hear about from the Mouse PR. This is why he opted out of Episodes 8 and 9 and Rian Johnson was brought in to direct. One thing is certain though, if the fans hate it, JJ will be the one who will get blamed for it as the man who destroyed the two most successful sci-fi franchises.

This actually is not true at all. As someone with close ties to Disney and in regards to EP. VII The only disagreements Disney and JJ have had are over release dates and original screenplay and direction of the story, they were intense discussions which may have looked like early tension. But Disney believes in Abrams which is why Michael Arndt is out and Kasden was brought in. JJ was always just gonna direct TFA, but he will be back for VIII and IX as a producer.

Oh look, more PT hate. Sad some of you have to be critics and cant just sit back and enjoy a movie. Reading the boards after the TFA is going to be a nightmare.

As for this Chewbacca figure, seems like everything I have on order is being pushed back.

Well it's usually a lot easier to sit back and enjoy a movie... when it's actually kinda good. ;)

Not to mention that many of us expect more from our SW movies than that they simply be watchable or diverting guilty pleasures. That's fine for a Fast and Furious or GI Joe movie maybe, but for SW I kinda expect something of a slightly higher quality.

Received email today for single Chewbacca scheduled for August/September release. Not sure if 2 pack will be pushed further back. I have a feeling we will not see him till September, maybe October.

The expectation on Abrams isn't so much to deliver a movie that's as good as the first two films but to make it just good enough to be the worthy successor that everyone thought the PT films were going to be. I'm expecting a serviceable movie.

If The Force Awakens biggest hurdle to overcome is being better than the Prequel Trilogy I think it's in good shape. :lol

Anyways got my notice from Sideshow that this is expected in August or September. The delay on this figure isn't that surprising to me so I'm fine with it.
