Ok, I just got Chewie out of the box and I am very pleased despite needing to give his fur a real good futz. But, for now I just put him on the shelf because honestly I am bit anxious about messing it up trying to adjust the fur. I really want to pull the fur away from under the chin in particular but the comb tool provided doesn't really seem like it would be good for that. I know people are saying you can't mess it up but knowing me I'd find a way lol. Anyone thinking about doing a futzing Chewbacca tutorial? :rotfl

No. Just barely fits with an old sideshow tusken raider stand with a sand cover. The second shelf down on mine has a little more space than the rest I believe, but I went with top shelf for now.
I found a pictures on instagram and it looks like it does fit. You just have to bend his knees and back, then tilt his head a bit. Don't know why they posted blurry picture.

I opened mine up yesterday as well. The hair on the chin is really glued on , I'm almost afraid to mess with it as well. Where is the comb tool? I didn't see it in the box?

I absolutely love this figure!! I futzed with him for about an hour today. I keep redoing the hair around his head. I'm just never satisfied with it. Plus it's fun to play around with. I also used tamiya weathering powders to lighten the area around his face.

What is a little troubling about this pic is that you can see the fur starting to come around to the right color, but in so doing, it starts to clearly reveal the other issues with the face like the eyes being too close together which the darker fur mostly hides.:gah::lol

Not sure what's creepier, Chewies hair or the boxes of body parts.

Which body parts?

Would soaking the head to remove the factory gel be an option, rather than combing it out?
I was curious about this, as well. Not sure if fully soaking ol' Chewie's head might not mess things up, supposing it dried all matty or clumpy. Would be nice to get some of that glue out, though.

yea, it does seemed glued pretty solid, even with the comb I was afraid of uprooting or fraying the hair in trying to get it lose. So I haven't done anything yet. The little comb is in the bag the instructions are in.

I'd be a little worried about immersing this in water. Seems unlikely the glue would loosen much just with water too?

Blurry or not, that's a weird pose.:lol

That's good that he'll be able to fit with a slight bent pose and without the base. Sort of like how the PF is posed.
He will still fit with the hot toys base as well, in a bent pose like in your picture.

You mean the cigar in foreground or the co-ordinated Han/Chewy dance move?:rotfl
The dance moves, obviously lol

Oh ok, I hadn't looked at the instructions. Thanks! :duff

I have to say, I am greatly impressed with the Chewbacca body. The fur falls on it perfectly, it's not too bulky like many of the customs we have seen are. Chewbacca was not broad shouldered and this body mimics that perfectly. Well done.

In regards to the face, the Chewie I have has a dark face and the hair running along the top of his head is lighter fur. It's almost as if they got it backwards in production , the darker fur should run away from the forehead towards the back. Still impressed. Great figure for mass production.

Yeah, I mean we could have him sitting down or bent over and he'd fit too, figured the idea was just can he at his regular height. Here he is on the Sideshow stand (his head just slides under the dioder lights):

The chin was the reason I went straight over to the sink and started working with a bit of water and trying to loosen up the fur there. Took a while -- maybe 5-10 minutes of massaging it. The comb tool works for the areas that aren't hardened down by glue but I don't think it would do much for the chin if it's glued down hard like mine was.

I would strongly advise against this. The parts of the fur that were really glued down ended up with a different harder texture than his other fur, so I don't think you'd want to have that glue work it's way to other parts of the face. Plus there must be some other product in the hair (hairspray-like) that allows you to position the fur better in general.

I think that's probably one of the biggest variations with all this chewies--how much glue is holding down the sides of the face and chin. It's possible that breaking the hair up with just a comb or fingers is the way to go but it seemed like that wasn't gonna do anything on mine so I went with a little water.

Here he is in profile to show how the chin is now (no more beak):

I would just wet your finger and rub it over the hair a few times until it gradually loosens up enough that you can pull it up. As people said, soaking the entire head might risk softening the hair a little too much and make it harder to style later.

I know it seems glued down really solid at first, but it's much more like hairspray that if you wet down and play with enough will eventually loosen up.

Try dabbing it with a clean lint-free cloth every time you wet it to try and soak-up and remove whatever adhesive is on the fur.
