Did some more futzing with this (trying to go for more of an ESB look), and I tried a couple new things. I didn't like how the lower lip dipped down so much, since it's usually pretty flat across on the costume, so I warmed it up with a heat gun and pushed the lip up a bit. It's a pretty hard plastic so you don't really have to worry about it turning too soft.

And I also took some of the excess lighter hair from the feet, pushed it under the eyes, and draped it down more like it's supposed to. And then sprayed it with a bit of hairspray to hopefully lock it in place.

Oh and also, it appears the eyes are on stalks of some kind, so if you dig in a little tool or screwdriver you can push them out to the side a little more to remove a bit of the cross-eyedness (although not all of it unfortunately).

Lip shape looks good. Can't remember, but did you change the color a bit for the lips?

Also can you explain a bit more how you moved the eyes?

Yeah I painted the lips a bit more brown. And for the eyes I just inserted one of my sculpting tools into the gap between the eye and bridge of the nose, and used that as a lever to move the eyes over a bit (I remember someone in here suggesting that way back when, but at the time didn't understand what they were describing).

The other thing that kind of helps remove the cross-eyed look is wetting the sides of the nose and pushing it in to make it a bit narrower.

:duff Bold work, man. Looks good. This potential on this figure is so interesting, so different than figures that require mods and parts from other figures, and more $$.

ok here is where I`m at with the new sculpt. I didn`t post anything when I had him the first time since I didn`t have a product to show off. this is my version of Chewbacca from the ESB lmk how I did. reminder I still need to find the right brown for his lips but this is stage one on his faceIMG_0093.jpg

The body is still the same compared to your other one. The head looks lighter but that is because you have a bunch of lights on now where in the other one you didn't, maybe I am wrong.

What did you do to Chewbaccas upper left lip fur? It is completely destroyed and uplifted.

Great futzing job so far!

it had nothing to do with the body it was the sculpt it was a mess missing hair from the back to where you could see the neck post as there was not enough hair to cover it. for his lip nothing there was a piece of fur hanging on there and didn`t notice it until after I took the photo and I took it off

I picked up some afro wax today and Re-Futzed.
Like the HT Stormtrooper, I suggest getting this figure asap before its too late!

Can you maybe call it "pomade" because that's what it is? "Afro wax" is more than a little bit racist, IMO. Mind you I'm not saying any racism was intended of course.

Haha and here I am thinking "Chewie" sounded more racist. Orale vato!

Is the crescent shaped forehead dent common in this figure? It's all I see when I look at him so I put in a request for a replacement sculpt.

There wasn't a dent in the packaging that I noticed. It feels like it's in the substructure and not just the hair. Combing did nothing, it just falls back into the dent. :(
