Chewie's eyes are too beady and close together, his mouth is off and the fur on his face is a total mess. I don't feel the novelty factor is enough, at the moment, to convince me to buy.

I thought they looked fine.

I think one thing thats making him kind of wonky looking is the fact they have the hair from the sides and chin pressed so tight to the neck area. A bit too bulky around the snout area too. Its a tough build no matter who has this...........i cant imagine the qc nightmare to maintain a consistency at the numbers ht will make........:horror

here is a head sculpt of Chewbacca I did 4 and a half years ago. if this head does not turn out great I might finish mine. I just need to finish the lip color and add little more fur under the chin/lip area IMG_0023.jpg

Yep, I think a little futzing and this will look a lot better in hand. If any production figure ever deserved a little slack it's this one.

I have a bad feeling the final figures are going to be all over the place!:google

I hope the final product doesn't end up looking like the old Don Post Chewie masks. Remember the ones they use to sell in Starlog magazine. In the photo the mask looked like the movie prop, and then you'd see it in the flesh and it looked like dryer lint with teeth. :)

:lol

The QC consistency point is a very valid one, & one I've harped on about since before this figure was even announced & we were speculating in that 'Real Fur Chewie?' thread. Part of me wants to get on board with the faux fur, but the realist in me says, keep your money - there will be PLENTY of returns on this thing.. followed by folks receiving 'returned' figures as replacements, & the vicious circle of disappointment begins.

This character can so totally be made in a flexible plastic/pvc type medium as far as overlapping fur to cover the joints etc, & retain sculpt accuracy at the same time. I'll be buggered if I'm gonna get the little hairbrush out every time something needs futzing, let alone what I imagine some might resort to with hair spray or any number of styling/shaping products to keep the figure looking right. The more you **** around with a figure like this, the more you reduce it's longevity.

This kind of a figure sounds good.. on paper. Translate it to thousands of units assembled boxed & shipped out - buyer beware. :lol

I agree. But they did a pretty good job with Planet of The Apes. That and Avengers 1: Black Widow hair give me hope, they had that styled and set pretty solidly.
It's gonna be a fun thread regardless!!

I'm getting two and I'm back-combing the **** out of one of them.
