Hey, I remember when I MADE THIS CHEWBACCA that H gave articulated arms to and futzed I remember that deal. I made it for him and sent it out straight off and he sold for an ungodly amount of money. I then waited three and a half years. Yeppers, three and a half years for my Vader. I guess it was a warning for the future too because Just like SS it came with tusks broken off because it was poorly packaged

I agree. But they did a pretty good job with Planet of The Apes. That and Avengers 1: Black Widow hair give me hope, they had that styled and set pretty solidly.
It's gonna be a fun thread regardless!!

I'm getting two and I'm back-combing the **** out of one of them.

Yeah, I have two P.O.'ed so I really hope this thing is good. And those two examples are like saying a bald guy with a moustache knows about hair care - one Chewy will have about as much fur as a dozen POTA figs (and none of those had hair on the face the way Chewy does,) so we're in uncharted QC territory here.

BBI did a 1/6 figure from Andromeda that had a fully furred body, but the head, hands and feet were furless.

Exactly Tali - the POTA comparison is pointless.

This thing will be covered - covered, in 'fur'. Not a little around his face, or some on his arms - THE WHOLE ****ing thing. :lol

Good luck.

Nope.
It's just a fabric body suit. I've seen the proto, it's a TrueType of some kind under a padded suit the same as numerous HT releases. It's not actually haired or plugged? It's actually very like the POTA figures in regards to a sculpted head and soft toy fake fur fabric sections. The big difference here is the nose/mouth area.
And QC keeping the length and color of hair consistent in the different sections.

You guys are acting like this is rooted hair, it's not. It's just fur fabric.

here is a head sculpt of chewie that I have been working on and off for over 4 and a half years. he is a tough character to nail in likeness but I think I did a pretty good job. I still have to find the right color for his lips though IMG_0024.jpg

Very nice! I won't ask about his lips. The internet has ruined my mind. :wink1:

Those frontal face shots look pretty good to me but his mouth/snout sticks out way too far on the profile shots

You can see this on the knee in the photo above...the weave of the fabric beneath is apparent.

If you take a look at CHewie's legs around knee's) it look like this figure will have a fur suit!!

Are you guys saying Chewbacca was just some guy in a fur suit?? I thought they rooted hair into Peter Mayhew. Childhood ruined.

Just very curious as to the construction of this bad boy. Will it be a regular tall body, covered by a shaped “form/fat” suit with like fur overalls. We will find out in hand.

The head looks like what I was actually trying to do when I made my custom Chewie, but couldn't get it to work.
Think of the head as a blank head with eyes only and fur around the neck and back of the head.
Then the face piece is a "mask" if you will. The eyes , nose and mouth are cutouts. The fur is glued behind the cutouts and pushed through the holes and an then over the mask. The nose and mouth are placed over the cutouts. This gives the illusion of rooted hair emanating from the eye sockets and nose and around the mouth. The mask is than placed over the head and the fur adjusted to cover the mask seam. That's what I think anyway.

So.. like little patches of carpet stuck all over him?

Tops. :lol

(Looks at pics posted by matrix) Is that supposed to be Chewie? Or a generic Wookiee named Louie? Christ, maybe HT should've gone with sculpted fur. :slap
Still looks like an adult 'Lumpy' to me right now. :monkey1
