So.. like little patches of carpet stuck all over him?

Tops. :lol

Still looks like an adult 'Lumpy' to me right now. :monkey1

The body has a fur suit. It's the same as any fabric body suit really, just depends on them cutting and colouring the hair at the right spots on the body. I'm sure they have panelled it like the Spider-man suits so the right length fur falls at the right part of the body. The head is a plastic sculpt with fur patches stuck on (just like the Planet of The Apes figures). The hands and feet are plastic with glued on fur patches.

The only thing new and dangerous is the delicate placement of fur patches around the nose/mouth/eyes. (which is why he looks like Lumpy to you at the moment :lol) Everything else has been done before. And speaking of the Planet of The Apes figures, the fabric backed fur on those was great, really good scale and very futzable, they even have the same hairstyle as Chewie.

Hopefully they get it sorted out in production, I think they have a very good chance of doing it. I'm more concerned about the mouth sculpt.

You can see this on the knee in the photo above...the weave of the fabric beneath is apparent.

yup!

DarthRazz I think you're bang on correct when you mention the nose mouth etc being separate parts.. I think by removing the mouth and modifying this ( assuming it doesn't change during production ) it will be easy enough to modify by moving or even replacing these parts. I can't wait to get mine !

Those pics make me more excited. I'm wondering how to achieve Peter's gangly legged look to Chewie with this body. The only thing that bothers me about this is the feet. I'm sure that Chewie's feet aren't as flat as that. I seem to recall them being bigger at the base . ( Like boots rather than feet).

I think it looking pretty darned good, the flash is making it look worse then it is and the extreme close up the full body pic looks awesome

Chewbacca has the same problem that Vader does, he looked almost completely different between the 4 films he was in. I think Hot Toys has done darn well in achieving a generic Chewbacca. At the same time I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see a Chewbacca ver.2 very soon afterwards though.

Looks okay and I appreciate HT for trying to tackle this. but those eyes are :google. His right eye looks especially bad, as if it's pushed too far in or the fur is covering too much of it. I am saving up to buy this 2 pack, but I am really thinking of waiting for inhand pics before dropping money on the set.

After ANH chewie let himself go and didn't take care of the do anymore either that or the hydro bath on the falcon was broken (probably fur balls again blocking the pump) either way in ESB and Jedi he got even more matted. Chewie not a character I know every angle off but I think the flash is making the grey or black eyelids look white which throws it off, and I think the bung eye is just the angle messing with it

It shouldn't be a generic Chewbacca though, it should be accurate to A New Hope.

Just be happy we are getting a chewie. It is still better than most customs I have seen. The nitpicking is really silly IMO. I am just thrilled to finally get him.

:exactly:

His '77 look is unmistakable, & so far it's a nice Wookie, but not 1977 STAR WARS Chewbacca.

They're all looking pretty close to the source material so far. :huh
