A few years ago I might have been ok with this Vader. I'm not a Vader expert nor am a Vader focus collector and still want more than this. Vader shouldn't be cute... LOL

Paint apps look more movie accurate on the mask with black around the eye lens and left tusk is darkened up. But that dome looks the same,really thought they'd tweak that.

Looks like hot toys got my note through sideshow! Black around the lens!!!

At comic con, I approached one of their top artists re vader and spoke about the color scheme at length ...
Explained if they've z(hit toys) already made the molds they could at the very least fix the color pattern...
turns out sideshow didn't even know what was wrong, but kmew it was off, but it asked if they listen to their input, which they apparently do, so hopefully it did make a difference!

I showed reference photos of the prop. The difference between Anh and esb interms of where the black is around the eye....hopefully that's what they did....iit's really a minor adjustment, so I hope it's not just the lighting!

That helmet is the same no change. The brow area is still not overlapping the eyelids and the top of the dome is still too short.

Dome doesn't need overlapping in Anh....the real difference in Anh face is that the edge of vaders eyelid is also black to match the eyesocket around the lens) so it appears to be in shadow all the time, unlike empire wherein the eyelid edge is actually gunmetal

At least they swapped out the body on vader,height looks more accurate. But that dome..

There's a bit of stretching in the distortion of the lens since he's way up there...his head is actually deformed too....the shape wasn't nearly that long in person, as it's so bit exaggerated, not by a lot but it is

Sometimes pictures don't do the figure justice (that's what I'm hoping). It appears to be better than the SS version.

It still looks a great overall piece and definitely better than the SS version. Would love to see some better pics.

So I was right to pre-cancel?

I've been looking for reasons to justify buying him, but since the initial 'HT Vader' excitement I haven't seen a big enough leap ahead of the SS. (Ignoring the ANH aspect).

I currently have the SS on a regular oval stand at the back of the shelf with the HT stormtroopers in front on their taller stands. It makes the SS Vader's height more reasonable and hides his suit. He's become an expensive backdrop.

So far HT Vader and HT Obi are the two weak links I can't see myself ordering. (Chewbacca's potentially iffy, but I've already unfortunately pre-ordered him).

In-hand pics will definitely have to sway me, very pricey, and already have the SS Vader, which has its own issues. However, I imagine this one will be easier to pose and may be better height-wise now if they really did port it to a different body. Again, in-hand pics will be pretty key on this one. Way too much competition for the $$ right now. Plus I just started looking into a couple prop replicas.

I think I'm going to buy it. I wouldn't notice any changes anyway on a different version. I'm not sure what I'd be holding out for anyway

I prefer the pics at the top, the bottom three are shocking, hope they didn't go with that version....
