I think this is the definitive pic... save it, memorize it, know it. You will be tested.

The ESB helmet (middle?) looks kinda weird in this picture...

Do we have anything bigger than that dark blurry thumbnail as the definitive pic? If there's going to be a test I mean.

the obvious to me is the missing cheek scar (of course it as a casting imperfection in the real helmet) and the Chest Armor clearly not the same paint way off there its clearly ESB chest guard , and the Helmet itself sits way to high on the eyes, its like their own ANH/ESP creation :dunno

I go back and forth as well. After the Death Star blew, it felt like Vader got a promotion as the sole survivor. But whether he's a dog-of-war or a shiny elegant villain, I visually prefer the robes over the armor. I do like that 'samurai' influence Lucas envisioned.

Also, my primary display is going to be STAR WARS (A New Hope).... at least until HT makes an ESB/ROTJ version. :lol

It's the changing concept of Vader in each film coupled with the greater context of the film itself. ANH is the progenitor amongst all pop culture properties I follow...it started everything for me as a child. To be really honest, I think I like the pacing of ANH better than ESB, which lags a bit for me at times. But I love Vader's character in ESB and in terms of set pieces, ESB contains three unforgettable scenes...the Battle of Hoth, Asteroid Chase, and the duel between Luke & Vader.

If I lean towards ANH it's more for the whole package; I tend to pick and choose with ESB.

In spite of the climactic Trench Run, Star Wars feels like a smaller, more personal film in some ways; and I think I tend to gravitate towards that as well. The same way I prefer Fellowship Of The Ring to the other LOTR instalments.

Like yourself, I'm biased towards ANH in terms of collecting figures; while I haven't bothered to pre-order, this Vader could be it for me if it turns out well.

Star Wars a new hope is 37 years old , they are the #1 company for making movie accurate high dollar figures , one would think hot toys could tell the difference between all 4 versions , especially with free resources out there like TheRPF.com and even now with their access to Lucas archives through their Licensing with Disney :slap

$299.99 for a very inaccurate Darth Vader advertised as A NEW HOPE is extremely disappointing

ANH is on the left. No wait, maybe the right.

First one is ANH. You can tell from the double telescoping lightsabre.

There is debate over whether the c-scar is a casting imperfection, a paint imperfection of just a lighting artifact. The original screen used helmet EFX cast their's from had no casting imperfection.

With so much reference material out there, there is no excuse to not get this vader to look right. I mean my god how many times is vader going to be done in 1/6 scale before we get one that looks right?
