Yeah it still looks bad there, no improvements made so i dont know why anyone would say it looks great. The dome is still all kinds of wrong, the face is too narrow. The gloves do look bad but i know that wont be changed so i wont dwell on it. I cant believe anyone would be ok paying 300$ for this.

I agree the gloves were a huge eye sore for me as well. Also, upon further scrutiny of the pics it seems like he is a bit "puffy" in the legs and arms. While the Sideshow Deluxe Vader is on the skinny side, HT seems to have overcompensated. This is especially apparent when the arms are bent.

Which version is best the sideshow deluxe or HT? Seems the HT tailoring looks better more snug but the better value is sideshow.

Better body will be on the Hot Toys figure. Better suit probably too (though this suit doesn't look as good as the ANH Sideshow figure).

Helmet/dome will come down to preference as they both seem a bit off.

Value is definitely with Sideshow as it has lots of extras (and is cheaper), but the HT interrogation droid looks pretty awesome.

HT has the light-up saber which seems like it might be more trouble than it's worth to switch in and out based on what I read in the Kenobi thread.

Sideshow has the light-up chest box (which is a function of the ROTJ suit).

Height we'll need to see in-hand comparisons.

Without this in hand it's hard to say which is better. I could list things I disliked about the SS Deluxe but I'd have to have HT Vader to see if it's an improvement.

Hmm...this thread has some similarities with the ht's obi thread. Why don't we just wait for S.V. & Para's photos to make an informed decision which is superior....:wink1:

...but word to the wise, don't post any photos of customized SS Vaders :lecture

:rotfl

More photos only served to confirm that HT Obi-Wan doesn't resemble Alec Guinness.

I'm not sure if more photos will confirm whether HT Vader resembles Dave Prowse. :duh

I've not this guy on pre-order but I hope they will release him with more improvements than Obi Wan. Otherwise I think they can seem like two cosplayer in a cabinet!

:lol

I didn't order either of them either.

Vader will probably be more representative than Obi-Wan as discrepancies may be hidden by the overall blackness of his appearance. With Obi-Wan it would mean pulling his hood down to his chin. :monkey1

I say again, though, you can get away with some inaccurate sculpts if they somehow still contain the essence of the actor in the role depicted. Sometimes that means an idealized sculpt, because they're capturing the life of a person in one frozen moment. Sadly, I see no Alec in their Obi-Wan.

I see Vader in this because I haven't studied the suit in the same way I've looked at numerous photos of Alec's face.

But the experts say Vader is off. And there are issues such as the gloves which should look wrong even to the layman.

With a helmet sculpt it should be easier to replicate reality, because the helmet is a collection of unchanging measurements.

People say this looks better than the sideshow deluxe, i dont see anything that makes it superior. :huh

It's now shorter (according to Ani-con pics) for starters.

Maybe the Interrogation droid is scaled for the newly shorter Vader because it's about half the size it should be. I guess it matches the HT mouse droid which is also undersized.

Still looks good though. You have to know that it's made of two astromech domes to identify that it's underscaled as it's shown so briefly in the film. I remember the 3 3/4" one being teeny too.

^^ Yep. The droid's about the size I'd have imagined it to be if someone hadn't posted here about the actual construction. For what it needs to represent, it does the job fine. As for Vader, personally it looks a lot better to me than the SSC Deluxe I had. Just the mask alone is leagues better and hopefully there will be even further improvements (November does seem like quite a push back). Regardless of any inaccuricies this figure captures Vader's character better than SSC's.
